using a m16 is not sniping. i thinks its pretty cheap to just sit there and hide and shoot across the map to take someone out. sniping is skill. and no i dont mean to just shoot a gun. you need patience to sit there and wait and to make sure they cant find you, and if they do its because they are dead. people that sit there with an auto from across the map are too scared to die or lose beacuse their "rank" will be messed up if they dont have more kills than deaths.

Uh...Sniping is actually considered, hitting a target at a distance with precision. That is what sniping is, thus you can snipe with just about any weapon with a scope.

ok guy. . they have sniper rifles and an m16 is not one of them. why designate a group of guns for sniping if just any gun from a distance will be sniping. this is where im coming from with my statement. i know literally that sniping is anything from a concealed place and such. i just rather you not consider yourself a "sniper" if you are using an assault rifle to do it. to me sniping is a skill i guess and it should be kinda separated from jus gunning someone down from far away.

It cracks me up how you "snipers" think you are so distinct from everyone else. If you don't use a "sniper" rifle you aren't sniping. I agree with erg, sniping is a tactic, not a weapon.

It also kills me when "snipers" complain about campers. The tactics are so similar, stake out an area and wait for some poor sucker to walk out in front of your gun, the difference being location and distance.

Assaulters are the real men in this game, the put their nuts on the line and achieve the objectives.

You may not consider yourself a sniper, but if you take the guys down from a distance especially with precision, that is a "snipe". Thus allowing you to "snipe" with any weapon

BTW Im a sniper as well, so dont think this is coming from a run 'n gun jack@$$

to me sniping is a specialty. i would like to get even better at doing it. i am a run n gun guy 90% of the time. i die alot and i take out whoever i can. i dont care about the numbers because if i go 20-0 and we lose then it was for nothing. if i go 3-4 and we win, its wonderful i look at the situation and type of game being played to decide what i need to be and how to be prepared for it.

campers i dont really care for. you have to do whatever it takes to win and if that means jus camping it out to get a draw or a win then do it. the goal is to win and if camping allows you to win then so be it.

My ways that are different from those i used in s2:

I dont lead anymore, i put the xhairs RIGHT on the body and it kills every time.
I find a spot that, instead of covering a wide area, covers a narrow passage that you know the enemy MUST come through. For example, in Devil's road, proning anywhere in the larger village to cover the seal canyon gets me many kills, since relocating is easy because of the generous cover.
Don't relocate unless you need to. If the kill was close to mid range, you must or else chance getting killed (your target knows where you were and will alert teammates), but only for respawns. In normal games, only relocate if you know of any other enemies in the area.
Find the perfect cover, not just prone in a corner. The low shrubbery in Devils Road (i love the map, as you can tell) will make you invisible except from in front, as it leans over you.
Remember that the silenced rifles have a much lower range, so only use them in close quarters. If you have one, check the range on your target area of coverage to make sure you dont waste clips when the enemy is out of range.

Great tip, be aware of the range of each weapon (whether or not it is silenced) and select the appropriate scope. There is little point in putting a 12x scope on a weapon that only fires 100m.

There has to be a mix of both on the team. If everyone charges every round you will be gamed. Sniping is a skill no matter what weapon or tatic you use. I snipe the majority of the time and snipers that camp in supression when they are the last left piss me off. I dont care if you have a wooden bow and arrow, try to win the game......THe other players will be smart and camp themselves especially if they know your sniping. I hate it when people just let the round go for a kill/death ratio. Other then that, camp, snipe, m16, m82 all the same when the guy hits the ground with a bullet in his head. Go for it
