I guess it depends on the skill of the opposing team. If they've got it together, and know the map area real well, it might be hard to find a good spot. On the other hand, if they are obviously disorganized, you'll have an easier time finding that one awesome spot.

Earlier today, I was playing the Devil's Road Large map (terrorist side), and I found a spot in the town that gave me a perfect firing lane up to the road leading from the SEALS spawn point. In a period of 4 minutes I tallied up 20 bonified kills before they finally figured out where I was (granted I was pretty positive that the SEAL team was primarily comprised of new people). I was impressed by this because I still consider myself to be a "sniper in training".

Never be discouraged, because sooner or later, you'll find that "sweet spot" that you're looking for.

For me I think there something you must do before becoming a skilled sniper
1) Do a liitte recon, get to know the map well
2) Learn from others... it not like they are going no when you ask for
advice
3) Get to know your weapon because for this game it is your
girlfriend..LOL
4) Know if you going to run with a partner b/c i know people that run
with three people: an assault gunner to take tangos too close, a
lower range sniper w/ M82A1A or M87ELR, and a long ranger sniper
with silenced SASR or SR-25
5) Don't be Rambo
6) Be smart and think ahead

lockeye this tips on sniping not rank also you are right about rank thing whats the point in cheating to get a highier rank that does not compare to your skill. i see rank as way to tell other ppl how good you are and if you not great thats ok deal with dont go ranking up like a noob

if the opposing team is very organized and know the map well, i have different spots to go. some are very close to eachother and some are on the otherside of the map. the reason for the pistol is if someone discovers u, use the pistol to kill them and then find a different spot. practice ur pistol skills in a respawn game. if u dont have good pistol skills u may not be a successful sniper, but then again u can use ur rifle at close range but this takes much more skill than to just use a pistol

Pistols skills are a definite plus.

It also helps out to try and snipe in prone or standing (you'll be able to react to someone running up on you quicker).

I wouldn't recommend you do this oftern, but since it seems like everybody is looking for the most hidden spot to find snipers, they are forgetting one thing. The wide open!

I've sniped before while standing up, in the middle of the road, and no cover anywhere (this was in Devils Road which is one of three favorite maps of mine).

This could go along the lines of being very unpredictable.

I shall now return you to Otakucon's original post...

************************************************** **********

Even though i have only been playing this game a few days, i have found these to be the best methods:

-More people running around means youre more likely to get caught proning in the grass some where. But with more people, there is a higher chance that they are stupid, and will search high spots and hilltops. Learn to snipe from inside buildings, around corners and even in a open field (if you have a giullie suit)

-Proneing with that M87 or M82 may make it steadier, but it makes you alot more vulnerable to attack. Learn to snipe with a bobby scope, and get used to leading targets. Speaking of which....

-When trying to kill vehicle *censored*, always take out the driver first. If you take out the gunner or passenger first, then the driver or another passenger might notice where your shooting from.

-Pick and choose your shots. If two guys are at the foot of a cliff opposite you, don't try to take both of them out unless you have backup or a semi-auto sniper rifle (SASR or the SR-25)

-Know when to use a high scope and a low scope. In terrain maps that are medium in size, i use a 4x scope to snipe quickly. In big maps, take out that 12x scope and get FAR from the action.

-The SASR and SR-25 are a snipers best friends. Now that the SASR can be scilenced, it opens up a whole new field in terr. sniping. Use this to your advantage. Another benifit is that they are lighter then the other rifles, thus alowing you to carry more equipment with your. The M87 and M82 are OSOKs (One Shot, One Kill), but they are extreemly heavy, almost forcing you to drop your nades and pistol attachment

Please add to this thread. This is all i can think of for now. Enjoy! :D

-One thing that you sould learn is that when you become a sniper it doesn't matter what gun you use, but that you make all your shots count.

The key is to keep sniping even if you suck. you eventually do get better, and with every map that you snip with you learn which positions are the best. You should always have more then one spot for each map, because you need to adapt.
