Mic problem re BT home hub
Hi, I can now get on to the net to play the game fine but I can't get the mic to work. The mic works fine on the single offline game which shows that's fine but it's the next bit that's driving me mad.
I've actually had conflicing advice. I rang the UK network gaming helpline (sony) and was told this:

1) Speak to BT: Ask them to set up a DMZ for you. They must make sure that the DMZ is setup outside the DHCP range - this is very important
2) BT will then give you a static IP address
3) Go onto your playstation 2 network settings and opt for the manual imput of network information
4) Enter the static IP address in the space for IP address
5) The Default Gateway is the hub/routers ip address
6) The Primary DNS is the same as above
7) The secondry DNS is 0.0.0.0
The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0
9) Save settings and exit - that should do you!
I did all this and still no commms!! So I called them back and they said BT must have set something up incorrectly. BT remotely logged in again and set up a new static IP in a DMZ outside the DHCP range. BT also told me that the 2nd DNS was wrong and it should be 2.2.38.2 this aparently would work. I tried it and it did, I fianlly had comms. Only problem was that when playing the game my Character massively 'lagged' and basically became unplayable.

I called Sony helpline again and they told me to change the secondry DNS to 192.168.1.240 (my primary is 192.168.1.254) - although this still allowed me comms, It still lagged. When I went back to Sony to explain the problem, they told me the problem must be with BT.

Before I called BT, I checked the next day with all the settings and there was no comms and the lag was gone. Since then the comms has never worked. I called BT once again and asked if they could set me up again. I also game them the port ranges (as above) and they appeared to set them up to, but still no comms. They also said the secondry DNS was incorrect and should be the same as the primary (192.168.1.254). I tried this but still no comms.

Can someone please tell me what I should have in the secondry DNS please and if you have any other advice (apart from bootig out BT) please can you let me know??
Thank you very much

This same thing happened to me and I know exactly what it is. It made me soooo mad and I also called sony just lke you and they tell u about this DMZ stuff and BLAH BLAH BLAH.....thats not it....its as simple as this...I bet u that u are running through a wireless router....or if not that a normal router....most wireless router and normal routers dont let u talk for some gay reason.....this is what i did....i plugged in my ethernet cord directly into the modem...if for some reason u dont have a modem....find one or just keep borrowing ones from ur friends untill u find one that works....right now i just found my first router that lets u talk.....i have Verizon DSL...and it eiter comes with a modem or a router that is basically a big modem and that is why it works like that....contact me if u have anymore questions and ill answer them!
