Question Questions about Socom3 LAN Party..

hi guys,

Here are the questions:

Me and like 13 friends are doing a 'weekly' Socom3 Lan party
so we're thinking about using this:

Linksys EZXS16W EtherFast 10/100 16-Port Workgroup Switch

it's just gonna be the playstations, no internet

so basicaly what I would like to know is, is that switch good enough??

we want absolutely NO LAG.

if this switch sucks, wich should we get ??

thanx

We just played a LAN game last night with 8 people (at a church of all places). We used an 8 port switch but what we had to do was run it from a router. There was no internet hooked up to it. The switch wouldn't run the LAN game on its own for some reason. So we plugged in a 4 port router and ran 1 cable to the switch. Then we hooked all 8 playstations to the switch and it worked fine. There shouldn't be any lag in a LAN game to worry about. Hope this helps.

could somebody explain the difference between this 2 switches ??

Amazon.com: Linksys EF4116 EtherFast 4116 16-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch: Electronics

and

Amazon.com: Linksys EZXS16W EtherFast 10/100 16-Port Workgroup Switch: Electronics

and just to be clear,
is there any way that I could set up the lan with just one of those switches and no router ??

let me know, just in case we need to buy a small router.

thanx :)

actually, when you couldnt play without the router did you had all the PS2 in automatic ??

or you use manual configuration for the IPs and all that ??

cuz I think that maybe with a manual configuration you could run the lan with any switch,

or am I wrong ?

thanx again.
