Solutions for Zipper Interactive Inc.

i think i know the reasons socom's online is just not that fun. first, the major problem is the theme itself, navy seals. no matter how cool they are, they just cant be very intense in a game. they never go head on into a battle(which is very fun), but rather take side routes to attack the enemy from behind. what i suggest for the maps is the maps be significantly smaller, be more linear. for example, take water works. u kno the courtyard, well each team has atleast 3 diff. ways to get into it. this causes players to get the opposing team from behind and quickly rack up tons of kills easily. what i suggest is a map which is in a rectangular shape, and kinda have a tug of war type gameplay. there should be a center point, which should be highly detailed with tons of cover for each side for intense gameplay.

Another problem is the guns. the guns are way too accurate and take away the fun. u kno the famous secnerio were ur pinned down behind a rock and u have to run to a another point under cover, and make it with some damage taken. this is nearly impossible in socom unless the person who has u pined down is a 2 year old who can barely hold the controller. they should reduce the weapon's standard accuracy and the attachments(front grip, rifle lazer) shouldnt improve the weapon to the point where the only way u can miss is if ur crosshair is 10meters of the person.

vechicles should be a bit more realistic. you coulddo donuts with a tank:smile: also, vechicles should actually show damage instead of increasing smoke until it blows up. i really dont think a humvee can actually be distroyed after taking 2 clips from a rifle. i thougght they were bullet proof. thats part of the reason everyone avoids gettin into vechicles. also, the mounted turrets have no recoil, and a extremely large clip(which is ok) and are very powerful, and if in the right hands, can be very distructive. the turrets need to be greatly toned down. larger vechicles should be destructible, but not to the point very its a moving time bomb. u should feel safe enough in taking cover behind a humvee with having to worry bout a car explosion death.
choppers should be added, but not like cobras or apaches. they should be mostly for transport with maybe a mounted turret on each side. the last thing we want is explisves shooting at us from the sky. some thing like a black hawk would be good.

maybe its time for socom to get away from the seals, and look into the military as a overall. the seals should be included, but they shouldnt be the central group.
srry for the extremly long post, its my first thread ad srry for bad grammer. it be good if somebody could convey my ideas to zipper, if they listen taht is.

Socom 3, any small map.

The linear stuff gets boring because then it becomes a grenade/snipe fest.
Plus it eliminates stealth, which is what SEALs are made for.

We are not affiliated with nor do we have any communication with Zipper Interactive Inc. Sorry to disappoint.

you can write a book about solutions for socom but the fact is that zipper will not listen to anyone. i don't think the problem is navy seals though because socom 1 and 2 were huge hits so its not the problem. the problem is 32 people rooms, huge maps and not even support from zipper. i dont care if sony online is free, atleast come to terms with the consumer. id pay for internet if it means free downloads and better service. i mean come on, you got to pay alittle to get alitte. thats how this world is these days.

If they took SOCOM away from Navy Seals, it would not be SOCOM any longer. That is what we have all known and loved. That's what makes this game SOCOM.

They should not move away from Navy Seals, they should just sit down and think. No worrying about patches, no working on another game. Just sit down and start from scratch. That would be the recipe for a great game.

i dont know, but all u guys you just complain about socom all day, why dont you just stop playing all togeather. I mean, i never see any post talking about how good socom is. All i hear is about how bad it sucks, but theres 20000 + on every night. I dont get it. Sure, the game and every game has its flaws. Just stop playing and it wont suck so much anymore. Just my thoughts.

DING!DING!DING! We have a winner folks. This guy is exactly right. It's fine if you no longer like Socom, more power to you. I realize this game does not hook you like Socom 2 did but I still love it and play it faithfully. I have a PS3 and damn near every game out for it but I still manage to fire up the trusty PS2 and boot up Socom almost daily. I think it is still a fantastic game. I love the new CA small maps mixed with some Citadel and Killing Fields. I find the games that I like (no snipers or ranged explos.) and enjoy the hell out of every minute. My clan is still pretty active so maybe that makes it more fun but I don't see myself quitting the game until the next gen version is available.

It's kind of sad that so many folks dedicate time out of their day to stop by the forum and continually bash the game. Move on if you don't like it. It's kind of like the guy who gets dumped and then spends the next month dogging the girl who dumped him like she was horrible. When all of your friends know you are just sad and jealous and you cry yourself to sleep every night hoping she'll come back to you.

a.) I stopped playing SOCOM months ago... and so have many others around here.

b.) There's not much to brag about with SOCOM's gameplay... the engine that "runs" this game leaves much to be desired.

c.) 20,000 people playing every night doesn't prove anything... if 20,000 people jumped off a tall building, would you?

d.) Not every online game has the kind of problems SOCOM does.

e.) SOCOM 3 basically ruined everything that was good about the franchise... I'm sure there are many others that would agree.

EDIT: Here's my open suggestion to Zipper/SCEA... buy a new friggin' game engine for your franchise.

They did use a new engine...for S3/CA, thats how the maps are so big. They made some sort of "streaming technology" for it.
