Question Room hosting question
Does anyone know why some rooms lag more than others?
And if you are hosting a room and it lags does logging in and out help?

It depends. For me maps like citadel and tidal fury have horrible lag all the time. Sometimes lag is caused by the host having a bad connection or just people in the room with bad connections. Also sometimes it could be the severs. Hundreds of things cause lag. Logging in and out won't really do much unless you reset your modem/rouder.

When you host a room, you take on part of the server's responsibility. All the information that comes from the players to eachother passes through YOUR connection first. So if you have a slow connection, the whole room does.
Also, if you abort the game, hosting duty will automatically pass to the next person who has been in the game longest. So logging off and back on won't really mean anything because if you're not in the game, someone else is hosting now anyways. It's a common anti-lag practice to leave and return if you are the host and the room is getting laggy.

Ditto. Since the last patch and only patch for Combined Assault the Mics have been jacked up. If the host has a bad connection the opposing side that does not have the host will lose the ability to hear and sometimes use their mics. If you're a nice host and the other teams say the mics don't work you should leave. I make it a common practice that if the host won't leave, I will switch to the side with the host and begin to ask each person on the list if they're host. If they're not the host i leave them be, if they're the host and won't leave i TK them. If they don't respond I assume they're the host and TK them as well. It makes for a terrible room that just begins to die when one side doesn't have mics, and a jack *** host that won't leave. If the person isn't the host and doesn't use their mic, it teaches them the importance of a mic. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to vote someone when the mics don't work, or people don't use their mics.
