Headset Communication glitch?

Headset Communication glitch?
More then a few occasions, I've entered a room with definite Comm's, but I've been unable to speak, or actually listen to what people can say.

How do I actually get around this? the headset icon is there, and says its all plugged in and stuff... Cheers.

supposedly if you and your team members go into options in the game and switches the channel you talk on you will be able to talk again.

I had an experience where my mic stopped working like that, but when I played 1 player it still wasn't working so I bought a new one. Problem solved.

Whats the number say next to the headset ? does it let you talk but no one can hear you or can you not grab the mike at all ?
