What's Going On Now?

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! As we begin 2007, we wanted to give you an update as to what is currently happening at Zipper.

Since the launch of SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Combined Assault and SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo 2, I've been asked many times, "What is Zipper working on now?" and "Where is Map Pack 2?" Let's cover some of these as well as some other topics.

What is Zipper working on now? Currently, we are working on a SOCOM 3 and SOCOM: CA patches for North America, SOCOM 3 patch for Europe, Fireteam Bravo 2 and Combined Assault for Europe, Fireteam Bravo 2 for Korea, as well as downloadable content which will be available in Map Pack 2 and future Map Packs.

North America Patches for SOCOM 3 and SOCOM CA: These patches will remedy issues identified internally as well as from Community posts. When more information becomes available, I will be sure to update you. Like last time, I have a change list that covers what has been addressed.
SOCOM 3 Patch for Europe: This is currently in test and should be available soon. I'll try and get a change list together for this patch as well.
Map Pack 2: Yes, it is still being worked on as well as tested. Unfortunately, the Breach Gametype has been removed from the Desert Glory map.
What else is happening? We have been listening to your concerns and are working on ways to deal with those people who find it necessary to exploit the Ranking System. Due to continuous abuse of the ranking system, we are now enforcing the following penalties to all account-holders that are observed exploiting the ranking system:

1st offense: Clear stats plus a 1 week ban

2nd offense: Clear stats plus a 2 week ban

3rd offense: Clear stats plus a permanent ban

And finally, rumors. I get questions all of the time asking me to confirm or deny a rumor that someone has posted. Keep in mind, that if something isn't officially announced by SCEA, then it is just a rumor.

Thats great i know not to believe half the stuff people say and its great zippers taking action on the ranking system.

I like the idea of clearing the stats of the person...I really really really like.

Yeah, if you wanted your stats cleared really badly you could rank up and get them cleared ridding you of disconnects, team kills, etc. Not recommending that but just saying if your willing to take the risk of getting your 1st ban. lol
Reseting the ranks of the rank ups will boost like peoples ranks that are officers (ensign - admiral ) stats right ???

Goddamnit, if you care about your rank and/or stats: kill yourself. Plain and simple, this game is so old and bad and easy you shouldn't have to worry about crap like that.

I'd like them to fix the gameplay. Or add a thing where if you don't move 4 ft every 10 seconds you get booted out of the room and universe. B1tches, how would you all play then? HAHAHAHAHAH!

I think I'm going to go cheat just to see if I get banned. Actually I'm too lazy to turn my PS2 on and put the game in, but I'm interested to see how many people they actually stop.

They should make updates for S2 and make it better, S3 is garbage...

i also agree with otter who cares about the stats this game has been out for ever just play to joy a good game not to be #1

Fixing the game wouldn't be so hard, there isn't all that much wrong with it now except everyone that hosts have bad connections, every now and then you will have a really good game thats because for a short while you have a good host and no lag. There is nothing wrong with the game just people that complain a lot about lag because they have bad games and some people lag switch and try to use laggy hosting as an excuse. Add a new server so the server won't be so crowded and laggy.

I must ask now......will "quick sniping" be considered an "offense" under the new system? (For anyone that says it is not an exploit, go pick up a rifle, any rifle and see if you can really do it.....)


As everyone complains about lag and salutes how wonderful SOCOM 2 was....let me just say this:

Bitter Jungle (also known as "Bitter lag" in the SOCOM 2 days, there is nothing in the game now that lags like this map did.....)
