Angry Network Error (-610)

I just got a new playstation, and i can't connect to socom 3. I have tried unplugging all the cords to the modem and everything involved for like 15min, and that doesn't work. I erased my network configuration and created a new one, I then tested the connection and it was successful, then I tried to log on and when I got to the DNAS screen, a box popped up and said NETWORK ERROR (-610) CHECK YOUR NETWORK CONFIGURATION. i called SONY and they gave me the PORT NUMBERS to have opened, but my modem is not like that. My modem is a WESTELL DUAL CONNECT WIRESPEED---ITS DSL.. I don't understand what is going on, or how to fix it. If ANYONE could HELP ME, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT...

Normally when I get to the DNAS Screen and it gives me the network error, it usually means that my modem is, although intact through the power cord, just isn't turned on. Check your modem for maybe an on and off switch..

Either that or just buy a new cord.

When you say cords do u mean power cord as well. 9 times out of ten unplugging the power for 30 secs works for me.

I Googled it and it basically says what you said.
Things to try
- Make sure it is turned on
- Try another ethernet cable (maybe your's is broken)
- Try another power cable (maybe yours is damaged)
- Dont listen to the store you bought it off because they will deny any faults in their products.
- Run a diagnostics test on the PS2, Computer and modem.

-Use of a Playstation2 which is out of date

-Interference from other network equipment

Ok, listen to me. I created a thread about this same error message several weeks ago. Network Error -610 plagued me!! I moved into college and I was getting the same message whenever i tried to connect. I had the same things happen to me and I tried the same things you did. Although our situations arent the exact same I'll explain to you what I had to do to solve my problem.

It sounds relativley simple but I found it frustrtating. My problem was that my University was blocking my connection so that's what I'm assuming is happening to you, somehow your connection is being blocked and you simply have to unblock it. First off, I hope you have your Online Set Up Disk! Cause if you don't, you better get your a$$ on ebay and order one, like I had to do. From this disk you will need to obtain your MAC address. That's easy to do, just search how to find it on google. Now is where our problem differs, I simple entered this number into a network registration site for my Uni, and then i was done. I'm no computer expert but I know that there has to be away to add this MAC address to you computer/router so that it will allow it. Try to find out how to do this and you should be good. I will look some stuff up and try to help you out but I don't know when i'll be able to do this, I'm a very very busy college student.

I really hope this helps you out, b/c I know exactly how you feel. I went without Socom for almost a month.
