You haven't really played SOCOM3 til you've tried this...

Hello all, This may seem a little weird at first but worth a try at least once for those without nice suround sound stereo systems. Do you have "earbud" headphones (the little ones that go in your ear)? If yes, stick em in your TV, put em on and THEN put the mic on! Yup, wear the mic OVER the earbuds while playing!

I've been amazed at what I was missing before in terms of ambient noises (ie. the birds in the windmill on Harvester!) and properly locating where fire/footsteps were coming from. The great part is that the mic sound still comes through perfectly (though u may have to turn the volume up a bit). The game is a whole new experience, plus, my family does not have to live with constant sound of gunfire and grenades coming from my office (aka The "Man Cave").

Again, this isn't for those out there with nice sound set-ups already, though u may want to give it a try anyway!

Yup, earbuds are like the ipod type. Most newer TVs (less than 5-6 years old) have a place to plug in any headphones, usually marked something like "Phones", "Speaker Out" etc.

Seems like it'd be impossible to use the mic effectively with headphones on underneath it...

Yea, most of them have a little piscture of, you guessed it, head/earphones.

I used earphones once just to see what the difference was, you hear a lot more stuff, like the ndaes bouncing off the walls/floors when they land and stuff, its cool.

It was nothing permanant though, the cable is only about 2-3ft long so thats no good for playing all the time. I know I could move my PS2 closer, but then I would have to move my internet reciver, DVD player, an a few other things.

I would reccomend doing this, but if you have parents like mine, you might your mom storming in your room shouting because you didnt hear her call you from downstairs.

I tried that once and I found it to be rather uncomfortable. Also, the cord isn't long enough to sit far back enough. I can still hear all the sounds just by turning up the sound. No, I don't have a surround sound, I use my dad's 10+ year old left and right speakers. They work great.

My TV doesn't have that :(. BTW I have a great pair of Sennhaiser headphones that I use for the PC and would never use ear buds unless I had no other choice.

Great idea besides the fact that my ears would hurt in 20 minutes.

I have a semi surround sound system and it does the job. The mic will start to hurt my ear after a couple hours. I can't even imagin ear buds in catching every little noise.
