Wireless Help

I am wanting to change my PS2 connectyion from my Cat-5 wire that runs into my bros room and he gets pissed so i want to change to wireless. I have a Linksys thing it is like a lil square thing with an intenna that has a USB plug in (fat one for the plug in to the actuall adapter) and skinny one like a mic for the connection to a computer. I tried to take it off my comp and plug it into my PS2 but i didnt work. Is there is any speacial stuff i need to go through before i can connect?

Ill take a stab at this one.....your router (the lil thingy with the antenna)....needs to be connected to your modem...DSL or Cable....whichever you have......then you have to have a gaming adapter that connects to the PS2....linksys makes a nice adapter (its what i use and experience no lag...) which is model number WGA54G and it runs in G mode...which is 54MBps........as compared to the 11 MBps on B-mode....unless the router doesnt support G mode......good luck lil man!

The Playstation 2 does not support the USB wireless adapter. YOu must use a wireless gaming adapter, which is sold at your local Radioshack, BestBuy, or election retailer. You must then use a cat-5 cable to connect the gaming adapter into your Playstation. The Cat-5 cable can be only 2 feet in length, since the gaming adapter will be located right next to your playstation.

I don't use the gaming adapter. I use just a regular Linksys wireless bridge. It works just fine. But you have to activate the bridge with your computer. If you want something simple, go with the gaming adapter.

I hope you get it worked out!

Demon, I will admit Linksys is a really good company, but Netgear is really good as well. I just bought the Netgear wireless router and the gaming adapter, and they are about as good as my buddy's, who uses Linksys. Both companies produce top notch equipment.

glserr, that would be a great idea, but a wireless router and a gaming adapter are less expensive than a laptop.
