Fixing Map Pack Problom
You must choose Purchase instead of Download. Download only makes the maps available over LAN. You MUST put in your credit card info in order to use the maps online. You get the maps for free for two weeks, and have to pay a one time fee of $5.99 after that. (Per pack)

I have purchased and downloaded and whatnot. Now, I can get into a game (doesnt matter if it has new maps or not ) and then i freeze, and ps2 reboots itself. Is this because I am using the HDD? Would it be better if i used a usb drive?

The freezing and rebooting is probaly due to the MASSIVE lag of everyone downloading maps/patch

It will probaly clear up a day or two.

That's what I'm thinking, combined with the added stress of your PS2 having to deal with a memory card, USB drive, AND online info, because I've seen a massive amount of freezing when I first tried to play the maps. It seemed to clear up as I continued to play, so hopefully it's only temporary.

It seems like you may be the only one. Try replugging your controller and restarting your system. If it gets to the point where it will not work at all, delete your Socom 3 Data in your memory card.

I'm probaly not going to play the new maps, or even socom much today.

Just going to wait till the majority of people give it a try, if I get on socom today, I mght give the new maps a TRY, if it gets laggy or messes up..I'll just play normal S3 maps, and try the next day.

If they run smooth, well, I'll be playing them all day;)

And like you said, the added stress of your PS2, it might take a while for the PS2's hardware to get use to the added data..so after a few days of playing it it might be like any other map on S3.

Doubtful. The PS2 doesn't "learn" or heal itself. If it's broken, it's broken.
