Trouble is half the time the companys don't know that they've been hacked until something physical comes up. It's kinda wierd because the europeans, or i didn't have to verify any card details, i just booted up and entered my account...wierd.

Fidelity sent emails, letters and called their people and warned them of this. They were told that their accounts are being monitored and if anything strange starts to happen they will be notified.

If sony got "hacked" they would probably do the samething. Not to mention what UNKNOWN said. If that is true than no credit card #'s are even kept.

As Pan said if the numbers are isolated then it is possible that with time something bad could come to them but we are just talking about what ifs.

P.S. I got the same note from Capitol One the bank

Was it verified, I think if it is a verified account Sony/Zipper would not delete it. But I am not sure.

there was a topic a while back about this, you should be good.
people were saying that they logged on the first day, verified, and left it
they came back last week and it was still there
maybe if you don't log on until christmas 2008 you could see a problem, but dont loose sleep over it

Of course servers can be hacked and information stolen, thats why companies spend money on such equipment and software to counter it.

OP - It is possible for it to be done, but the likely hood is minimal, but still very real all the same.

The likelyhood of it ever happening to you is minimal. Just keep track of your account and report anything you think might be suspicious.

This is correct, it is stated in one of the EULAs before verifying.

As Pan the man said, Microsoft's XBox Live service has never been hacked, and I'd sooner expect to see them hacked than anyone else.
