Weapon improvements from Socom II?

Recently I've realized that some of the guns that were not so good in Socom 2 are way better in Socom 3. For instance, the model 18 is now accurate and powerful, before it was just powerful and couldn't hit squat unless you were close. I've realized the 552 has gotten better to, it might be just because I was bad with the 552 in S2, but now I'm 20x better with it. Any of you notice these changes?

Yes, you're quite right. Many of those that appeared in S2 have been retooled for S3.

The Model 18 has been given rediculous range and power.
The F90 has been given a wider spray and a bit more power.
The 552 has been justly given more power.
The M16's close range accuracy has been toned down to compensate for it's power.
The M4A1 has received a slight increase in power.
The HK5 has dropped some in power, headshots yield the best results.
The M60's accuracy has been toned down, and is now most deadly when the holder is prone.

So there you have it, a mix of good and bad.

The model 18 has always been pretty vicious but the 552 has improved a lot from socom 2. the biggest change IMO is the M14 (its like night and day). second is the F90, in socom 2 it was rare to see someone using it and now its abused in this game. you had to pretty skilled to use an F90 effectively. the shotguns in socom 2 didnt take 4 or 5 shots to kill someone like it does now. the AK-47 is pretty badass in both games and the DE.50 is no longer 1 shot kill unless its a headshot.

The Model 18 was terrible in Socom 2. It was extremely weak. All the guns were made a lot more "equal" in this game. In socom 2 there were just 2-3 guns on Seals and Terrorists that everyone would use.

On Socom 3 now there are a lot more decent guns, so there is more variety in what people use.

yes I remember being ashamed for being killed by a model 18. But now it's like I'm afraid of it when I'm a seal cause most terrorists use it when their sniping. F90 has gotten good to. I wouldn't say it's abused because it CAN be beaten by guns like a m4a1, I've done it quite a bit. I agree about the M14 comment to, it's not as good as it was in 2, that was the gun being abused in S2.

I agree but what about Socom1?

In socom 1 all the assault rifles had a burst mode. The M4A1 was deadly with burst. Also no matter what you carried in socom 1 you ran at the same rate. Whether it was a F90/grenades/clays/etc or a sniper/grenades/clays/etc.

Yes its more realistic, real military experts helped design the game with Zipper to make it as real as they could. It was one of their biggest goals for the game besides improved online play.
