Exclamation Pinnacle Studio 9 storage question

Okay, I just transferred a 20min VHS to DVD through Studio 9 (same thing as recording S3). Before that, when I went to "capture", it said I could record 2 hours and 20 minutes of video (the pie chart showed a lot of free space). Now after I did the dvd and all, I deleted the project and all the auxilary files, but now when it tells me I can only record 40 minutes (way smaller amount of free space available). Are there any hidden files or like another copy of my project somewhere, because it's taking up a lot of space on my hard drive. If this happens everytime I record, I'm going to end up with no space and no ability to record. Anyone know what's going on?

NOTE*: OTTER, I would appreciate your advice especially because I know you're good with this...

I'm not really knowledgeable on this topic but I do know that you CAN'T trust what Pinnacle Studio says you have left. I will be recording and the total time I can record changes a lot. If you are sure you deleted the file and the .scn file then try to restart Pinnacle and check it.

I don't know about the hidden files.

Are you talking about the pie chart in the beginning before you capture, or like when it's burning and it tells you how much you have left? I deleted the .scn file, and the .mpg file, plus all the auxilary files. Nothing. When you say restart Studio, you mean uninstall it or like what...cuz I've restarted my comp. and all, but it still tells me. I searched for the name of the file that i deleted, and nothing. So, maybe it is lying, but are you sure that once I delete the .scn file and the .mpg, that the space it says it took is back? I would believe it would be, but idk. That kinda sux, cuz now it tells me i can only record 40 minutes...

Isn't that all in the general area where it tells you?

You would think that deleting the .scn and .mpg files would be the answer but I really don't know either. I guess just wait for another persons thoughts.

Sorry for my uselessness.

Not uselessness...a little help. One more question, when you delete your .scn files (if you do), does it increase the amount of free space you have? I mean, does it work when you delete your files, or it tells you that you can record less like mine?

I haven't looked into that myself because I am still capturing footage and editing a movie right now so I can't delete the files yet.

Probably too late, but before you capture, mark down how much it says u can capture (ex. 1 hour 5 minutes). After you finish ur vid, delete the files, and see if your capture amount has changed. That would be a lot of help. Thanks!

Will I have to do that every time? I mean I haven't tried that, but that's pretty dumb if you have to defrag your drive every time you do a video...
