Yeah.
Sorry to say, but I doubt youd ever see a terrorist with a Thompson...in real life. The way terrorists get weapons goes far into detail and it isnt just about the price, its about the opportunity.
With Russia's early involvments with Afghanistan and supplying middle eastern fighters with Soviet made weapons to fight Soviet enemies, the guns just kind of float around. Plus with the fall of the USSR and the careless economy of the Russian government, Russian weapons are just a hell of a lot easier to obtain than old WWII American weapons.

It would be fun to bang away with the following weapons:
M-1 Garand
M-16 A1
M-3 "Grease" Gun
M-1 Carbine
1911A1 .45 Pistol
Model 29 Revolver
M-1903 Springfield
Although, using old weapons wouldn't fit in with the theme of the game. That's why I still play Medal of Honor occasionally.

A little bit Medal of Honor style, the guns in that game were amazing. It is too bad Socom is set in a more recent time period, but that would still be sweet.

I love how people want a flame thrower. Get real people. They havent been used since early in vietnam. I dont know about you but i dont wanna be walking around with 2 gallons of highly flamible napalm and propane.
I think their should be a socom ww2. Of course not called socom cause special operations command wasnt thought of back then. Still would be cool. I wouldnt want the M16A1 just because of the full auto. I use my A2 on single shot and love it. One of my all favorite time weapons is the grease gun. I would use it. IF they came out with a mercenaries game that would be hot cause mercs use whatever the **** they want. Of course they are usually supplied by the CIA and private contractors but still.

Im sure Pan was just joking around.
Socom plus old weapons would not work, because of the advancement of the SOCOM series into modern dy. If they were going to do this, maybe they could have like two options for maps such as WWI/II style, or modern day. there could be different weapons for each group abviously, and the characters would look slightly different. Kind of how like Star Wars Battlefront is with the CLone wars/Galactic time periods. I dont, just an idea.
