don't pick a sniper rifle at first...friggen noobs camping w/ sniper rifles on ranked rooms cuz they scared of dying is just dumb. So pick up a stg or a m4a1 and play respawn. If your horrible with those guns, use a smg. Then play witha sniper after you can use assualts or smgs. But don't snipe because you want a low death count.

Actually play however you want. If you want to snipe, then snipe. Don't let other people tell you that a certain playing style is "dumb". You paid the money for the game, and you are investing the time into playing it. Play it how you want, and if people complain, tell them to just grow up and deal with it.

In fact, sniping is a good way to get your reflexes down, especially if you are shooting at moving targets from long ranges.

That brings me to another thing I always tell people: If you want to become a good sniper, start by sniping with Assault rifles and medium/4X scopes.
(HK36,M4,AK47, etc etc)
Because hey, if you become a master at sniping with a small scope and a 3 shot kill or so, then move up to a 1 shotter with a high scope and think of how much *** you will kick!

Get to know the maps like the back of your hand. If you are rushing about in a dither (he he, I said "dither" :D ), unsure where to go, you WILL get owned by someone that knows the map.

I think he was giving him advice and not actually telling him how to play. the advice about camping is a good one b/c if you look like a NOOB while playing you will get voted out so to avoid that try getting right into the action. oh and by the way telling your team to grow up and deal with it will only get you teamkilled and voted. at least in my rooms............................................. ........

No offense, but your team sounds like a bunch of noobs to me if they TK/vote someone off just because of their playing style. If the room is specifically designated as a "run-and-gun" only, then that's fine, because that's the rules of that specific room. If it doesn't make that distinction, stop trying to push off your "standards" to other people.

Ok, back to the topic. I agree with Spookius. A good thing I still do, is run around with an M-16 with a medium scope. I switched back to an M-87 last night, and I wasn't missing at all.

This is something I learned with my first clan back in SOCOM 1....

Go make a room with a bunch of friends, put on respawn so it's easier...and go shotgun with M40A1's only with no scope. It's extremely accurate with shotgunning.

This is what I used to do in the last 2 SOCOMs to get my aim better in mid-range to close quarter battles. Trust me, once shotgunning with M40A1 gets easy...move on to the regular automatics and it feels a lot easier. Just an old fashion way to get your aim better.
