Keepin yourself alive while sniping

i figured this out while playin Harvest (suppression) on SOCOM 3 Online:

When you are snipin git is favorable if you set out a pressure mine about 2o or more yards from where you are sniping ( wherever you think that the enemy is most likely to come for u and a claymor in the other direction.

you can also pop gray or red smoke because with a high scope you will see past the smoke and at people while otheres cant.

Have someon on your temmate be the bait to pull out another sniper trying to mark your positon..

Good tip. Thanks for the info.

Another good tip is to put a maximum of two hostiles down, then move your location. A good opposing team will communicate your position right away, and the next thing you know, you have a whole enemy fireteam breathing down your neck.

Keep them guessing.

And to add to that, never snipe in the same spot more tha ntwo rounds in a row. After that switch your position at least a couple of times. you can always go back to your original position later on in the game, but keep the other team guessing.

Know what's fun? (works great on Harv small)
Plant M2 mines where you're gunna snipe, and PRONE ON TOP of them. Then you have getting-run-over insurance.

Not a bad idea, but thats kinda assuming the worst is gonna happen. Imagine the whole round your thinking "Okay I gotta get run over, gotta get get run over"

another no-brainer is to use protective cover effectively. on one map, i was prone behind a rock wall, barely high enough to hide me and protect me from enemy fire. i would zoom in to where i believed an enemy was, while still prone and i would, ofc see nothing but rock wall, then i would pop up, crosshairs-on and bam. then back to prone.

worked well enough for me to take out three guys till i couldn't see anyone anymore, so i got up and ran somewhere else.

Exactly. I don't even camp, camping is BORING. I grab a Sniper, and just quick scope my way into a round won.

Quick Scoping works. Also just snipe the enemy before they snipe you. Meaning you can snipe from the smae spot 2 times in a row. Its just not a good idea. :P
