This is old news guys......This gun has been tested and adopted for the special forces at least about a year ago.
Anyway.....I think some of you are a little confused about the caliber of the weapon.
There are two SEPERATE versions. One is the 5.56x45mm "light" version which will primarily be your assualt carbine or room clearing version and the 7.62x39mm "heavy" version which will be used primarily as the LMG and support sniper roles. The 7.62 will probably get a much heavier grade barrel, optional drum magazines and different optics.
You couldnt just take the light version and run around picking up AK47 mags and shooting them off. Its a totally different barrel size, mag size, trigger mechanism difference....ect...... In other words.....it would be entirely different.
Its made by Fabrique Nationale Herstal though, so I am sure its very well made and very reliable. These are the same people that make the P90 and the FAL. The FAL is one of the most reliable assault rifles ever produced and hopefully this trend will carry over to the SCAR.
