Actually the silencers dont decrease the number of hits it takes to kill. The silencers only shorten the range of the weapon.

Exactly. I myself always use a silencer but sometimes in long range gunfights with non-silenced weapons it does feel like my gun is weaker sometimes, but what you say makes sense.
