gun guide by socom3obsessed!!!

This might help you pick a good gun folks!!! :D

552

Overview:

The 552 is a much better gun in socom 3! It has a good fire rate and you can kill someone at a pretty good distance when shooting fully automatic.

Stealth:

If you put the silencer on the 552, it still has good range. If you want to be stealthy and still do some damage, this would be a fairly good choice. Its not the most silent gun, but it is powerful. With a silencer atatched, this gun has a very good balance of range, accuracy, silence, and fire rate.

Run n Gun:

There are a few combonations that I have really enjoyed using for this gun. You should use the front grip if you have unlocked it. I found that if I put a front grip on it with a red dot scope, it is very accurate even when your standing up. If you want to use a higher powered scope with it, just loose the red dot. This might decrease your accuracy when firing out of scope(according to the accuracy reading).

AK-47

Overview:

Yeah! You have to love the good old AK-47! This is one of my favorite guns in socom 3. It is fairly powerful. In close range gun fights, it is awsome! I like to put a scope and a laser on it when I play. The fire rate isn't the best, but I like it! :P

Run n Gun:

This gun is great for running and gunning. I recomend a grenade launcher attatchment with a scope also!! If you want to compare the AK47 to the 552, there are plenty of differences. Looking at the stats, the 552 seems better because it has better accuracy and a better fire rate. I just like the feel of the AK. Its main advantage over the 552 would be that it is lighter. :)

AG-94

Overview:

This is a very good gun. It has almost no recoil. It is so easy to get headshots with this!! Slap a scope on it, and it is like an aoutomatic sniper rifle . Well...kind of. It does have a slower fire rate(same as the AK-47) so make your shots count.

Run n Gun:

This gun was practically made for running and gunning. Im sure you will love its accuracy which is good for a fully automatic gun. I suggest putting a scope on it to take advantage of having almost no recoil.

HK-36

Overview:

When I look at this gun, I always think it is a sub machine gun, but its not!!! It has a pretty good fire rate. The accuracy is alright, but I dont like it much on full auto. I was owning with it on 2 shot burst lol. Remember to bring 2x ammo with this.

Stealth:

One good thing about the HK36 is that you can put either silencer on it. I prefer silencer 2 because it is more quiet, but if your desperate for silence and a bit more accuracy, put silencer 1 on it. When being stealthy, you should be able to get a head shot before they realize whats happening. That is thanks to the gun's high fire rate.

Run n Gun:

This gun is a good choice to run n gun with. I suggest putting on the front grip if you have it. That will improve your aim while standing or crouched. At close range, fire full auto, but anywhere further than 20-30 meters, you might want to consider burst firing.

IW-80

Overview:

The famous IW-80. Yep. Well here is some good news. It isn't as overwhelmingly powerful as it was in socom 2. It has a good fire rate and now you can silence it. Also, there are alot of good attatchments for it.

Stealth:

This is a great stealth gun. You can put either of the silencers on it. I usually prefer silencer 2. Because of the IW's high fire rate and good knock down power, you should be able to kill someone fast with the silencer on it. I like to also put the high scope on it and get some long distance headshots!

Run n Gun:

When I use the IW to run and gun, I leave the silencer off. I usually put a front grip on it with some sort of scope. Because it has a high fire rate, you might want to bring 2x ammo.

M14

Overview:

The M14 definatly does not own as much as it did in socom 2, but it is still a great gun. It is pretty accurate when you burst fire it. I like to put a high powered scope on it with a bipod and snipe people.

Run n Gun:

You can definatly run and gun with the M14. Its high fire rate helps you win battles at close range. Slap a scope on it, and you can hit targets very far away. Remember, it only has a 20 round clip, so you might have to reload more. I personally dont like to run around shooting it at full auto. The bullets spread apart too much when I fire it at full automatic.

M16

Overview:

The M16 was a gun that you could own people with in socom 2, and not get yelled at for it lol. People knew it took a little skill to operate since it doesn't shoot full auto. Its pretty much the same in S3. It is actually easier to shoot now. You can own everyone if you put the high scope on it. It hardly has any recoil.

Run n Gun:

This is possibly the best gun to run n gun with. It is extremlEy accurate. If you want to do some real damage, you might put an M203 on it. If you have a high scope and an M203, that would be awsome!!!! :D

M4A1

Overview:

The M4A1 has a good fire rate and accuracy. It is an all around good gun. It does have a lot of recoil compared with some guns though. One good thing about it is that there are lots of different attatchments for it.

Stealth:

If you want to be stealthy, this is always a good choice. You could use this combination for stealth and accuracy. Put a front grip on it with silencer 1. You could also scope out some headshots. Put one of the scopes on it with a silencer. Beware of it's recoil though. When you fire in scope, the gun will bounce up, so it takes a while to take shots.

Run n Gun:

This is another great gun for running and gunning. I prefer to put a front grip on it with an M203. There are lots of combanations though. If you want it to be very accurate, put on the front grip with the red dot scope.

RA-14

Overview:

The thing I love about the RA-14 is it's fire rate. If you want accuracy and a high fire rate(plus range), this is one of your best choices. Just remember the 2x ammo! :D

Stealth:

The RA-14 is great for stealth. I dont know why, but I love putting a silencer on it with a thermal scope! :P If you camp somewhere with a good view, this would be a good gun to get people with!! Remember that if you want better accuracy on it, you can put on the front grip.

Run n Gun:

I like to run n gun with the RA-14 because of it's high fire rate. Its not the most powerful gun, but it sure makes up for it with how fast it puts out bullets. The gun does have alot of recoil, so you might not want to try scoping in for a headshot when someone is shooting at you. Good luck!

STG 77

Overview:

Like the IW, you can only get this gun if you beat the game on Admiral difficulty. It has one of the highest fire rates of all the guns. Accuracy at long range isn't all that great, but at short range, you can chop someone to peices.

Stealth:

Yes, you can put a silencer on the STG. It works great for getting stealth kills at medium range. If you put a scope on this gun, remember that it has a lot of recoil and it will be difficult to kill someone unless you get headshots.

Run n Gun:

The STG is great for close combat. The bullets spray everywhere, so it wont take long to get a head shot. The gun shoots fast, so you might want 2x ammo. Also, it is fun to add the M203 on to it. When I run n gun with the STG, I usually like to have the M203 and the front grip.

M8

Overview:

I really enjoy using this gun. Although it has a lot of recoil, if you burst fire it, its awsome! This gun also can have a ton of attatchments put on it. This gun is the lightest in its category as well.

Stealth:

For silence, you can put either of the two silencers on the M8. I usually use silencer 2 because it is quieter. If you use silencer 1, your gun will shoot accuratly a bit further. I think having a completely silent gun is better. If you set it up right, you can actually snipe with the M8. Just put on silencer 1 and a nice scope and put the gun in single shot. I only do that when I'm only trying to get headshots though. If your into sniping silently, check out some of the sniper rifles. One of my favorite stealth combonations for this gun is silencer 2 and a bipod. If you lay down, it is sooooo accurate and quiet. You wont have a scope, but you can quickly neutralize a lot of terrorists at pretty good range. It would be great for camping lol.

Run n Gun:

If you want to be very mobile and still be able to hit enemies, try some of these! My favorite setup is probably to put a grenade launcher on it and a scope. This could be a bit heavy, but you will be a killin machine. If your scared of getting ambushed, try putting a thermal scope on it with a grenade launcher. If you want to travel, light, i suggest just sticking any scope on it and leave the other slot empty(although you could put a silencer on just in case).

M60

Overview:

The M60 is a pretty good heavy gun. It shoots a hundred rounds at a time. I recomend you put a bipod on it because that will improve it's accuracy alot. Personally I think the MK .48 is better. The M60 has a slower fire rate.

MK .48

Overview:

The MK .48 is a great heavy machine gun. It seems to have more recoil than the M60. It has a very good fire rate! Apparently, the military is getting rid of the M60 and this seems like a good replacement. By the way, you can put a front grip on this to improve accuracy while crouched or standing. My favorite is to put a bipod on it along with the front grip. That ensures that if you are in any of the 3 positions, your accuracy will be good. You might also like to but a scope on it to take out enemies at long range!!

ATK-74

Overview:

This is a great gun. Its not all that accurate, but I love it. If you put a bipod on it, it reminds me of guns like the M60. I usually use it as a heavy machine gun. It is a great gun for medium range gun fights!!

9MM SUB

Overview:

You dont want to get engaged in a long distance gun fight with this gun. The 9mm has the huge disadvantage of limited range. If your fighting close quarters battles and urban warfare, this gun could work. A big advantage to this gun is its weight. It is extremly light, so if you want a couple RPGS or whatever but still want speed, you could use this.

Stealth:

You can equip a silencer to this gun. I personally dont like it. Maybe if your fighting urban warefare and you have a good camping spot, you could manage a stealthy kill. Good luck.

Run n Gun:

Make sure you put a laser on it if your crazy enough to run around with it lol. That way, you bullets might be a little more accurate.

F90

Overview:

I have beaten the game once using only this gun the entire time lol. Like the 9mm, its range isn't all that great, but this thing shoots 50 rounds at a time! This is a great spray and pray gun. It has pretty good accuracy under about 50 meters. While your enemy has emptied his gun and is reloading, you could easily still be blasting him in the face!

Stealth:

I usually use this gun with the silencer. It is great for stealth kills. Just make sure your close enough.

Run n Gun:

It might be challenging to run n gun with the F90, but it would be fun. This gun is great for battles at close range. If your crosshairs are anywhere near their head, your going to get a headshot. I usually always put a silencer on this baby even if im not focusing on stealth!

HK5

Overview:

The HK5 has a good fire rate and very good accuracy for the sub machine gun category. If you want a very light gun, but still want some accuracy, this is a good choice(also see the M.

Stealth:

This gun does seem pretty weak with a silencer, but it still has some accuracy. I dont like putting silencers on this gun much, but it works alright. It is pretty easy to get a headshot with this. It reminds me of running around with it in socom 2. People would get so annoyed when you kept killing them with the HK5 SD.

Run n Gun:

This gun isn't all that powerful, so be careful running around with it. At least put the red dot scope on it, so it works a little better. You can carry alot of extra equipment with this gun. Take advantage of its light weight and bring along some extra stuff. I always would suggest 2x ammo with most of the high fire rate subs.

HK7

Overview:

I dont use this gun much, but it does have its advantages like any gun. It is very powerful for its size. It is extremly quiet with a silencer. If you compare it to the HK5, you will notice that it is less accurate, but more powerful. So for close quarters combat, this gun would be a better choice.

Stealth:

If you want to be stealthy and carry alot of gear, this is another good choice. With the silencer attactched, this is one of the most quiet guns.

Run n Gun:

I'm not going to lie. If you run around out in the open with this, your toast. Since it is light, I would carry rockets or something so that I could do some damage from a distance. :D

L96

Overview:

The L95 is a great rifle. You might notice that it is the most accurate of all the rifles. It might take more than one shot to down an enemy, but that shouldn't be hard, since they slow down when their hit. This gun and the M40 are very similar.

M40

Overview:

Did you know the M40 was designed by the marines for the marines? Well it was. Did you also know that the L96 was designed by the british. The two guns are similar in the game. Maybe you make your decision based on which country you like better.

M82

Overview:

This is a very powerful sniper rifle. It is 50 caliber and it says it works against armor in it's description. I have yet to try taking out a terrorist truck with it just by shooting at its engine. I like to put the bipod on this to make it more stable. It is a one shot kill(most times). It does weigh a good bit, so dont plan on sprinting with it and a bunch of rockets.

M87

Overview:

The M87 is a good rifle. Its basically the same as the M82. They are both 50 caliber. If you want power, one of these two guns should be your choice. Just remember, they are heavy.

SR25

Overview:

This gun was designed for the navy seals. It is one of the 2 semi auto sniper rifles in the game. It is similar to the SASR. If you want to fire a bunch of quick shots before someone can get away, this is a good choice. If you thing you are going to have to kill many enemies, this works. It works very good with the silencer attatched. I personally love to put a thermal scope with a silencer on this.

SASR

Overview:

This gun is similar to the SR25. It is semi automatic. If you want to fire a bunch of quick shots before someone can get away, this is a good choice. If you thing you are going to have to kill many enemies, this works. It works very good with the silencer attatched. I personally love to put a thermal scope with a silencer on this. Notice I repeated some of the same stuff from the SR25 description. That is because these 2 guns are so similar. The SASR is a little lighter though just so you know.

SCOPES

When choosing your scope, try to think of what kind of combat your going to be in. You could have a lower powered scope and guard a hallway where no one would expect a sniper to be. If you are going to try to cover someone from an extreme distance or just keep distance to be safe, use a high powered scope. If it is a night map, maybe you will want to use the thermal scope. If you want to snipe campers hiding in the brush to teach them a lesson, the thermal scope would work great. I personally like to use the highest powered scope I can get and pick people off from as far as i can. :D

12 GAUGE PUMP

Overview:

This is the most accurate of the shotguns. It is also pretty light. Remember that the shotguns in socom 3 are more accurate, so you might like to pick one up again.

M4-90

Overview:

This is a new shotgun to the game! It is heavy, but you can shoot more. You will be reloading alot though because you dont get as many shots as some of the other shot guns.

TA 12 GAUGE

The TA is just a bit less accurate than the M4-90 just so you know. Otherwise, they are very similar. You will have to try them and decide which one you like better.(I'm not a shotgun expert )

Wow... if you want your guide to be much more helpful, show facts and methods and ways to use it. Also use examples and situations where the gun would be best — that would help people better choose their weapons than "this gun is great!"

No offense, though - it's great that you put aside the time to make it. It's nice
