Getting on the North American servers

This is a short guide, where I will explain what is needed to get onto the North American servers from Europe.

Buying the kit

First of all you will need to purchase an American playstation 2 (NTSC) and a NTSC version of socom II.

There are many import sites out there, though the one I used is http://www.importmadness.co.uk

Including shipping the whole thing cost around £170 obviously it depends on the exchange rate at the time.

You will need to make sure your tv supports 60hz for optimum quality.
Connecting

When you connect you will most likely get the message "The network configuration was made for a different ps2 and cannot be used". This is easy to sort out, on the online screen you click on edit network configuartion and go make a new one. You will be told to delete your one for your PAL ps2, you will have to do this everytime you connect.

To solve this it would be wise to buy a new memory card to avoid this, though it only takes a few minutes, and I dont think its worth £20.

buy a PAL PS2 (Slimeline Best)

PAL SOCOM 2

basically the same, but in reverse you'll also need a network access disc for central station, if you buy a network adapter you get a network access disc & Network Access Code , With Slimeline ps2 you have to send away for disc but you still get a code and then go-on from there and you'll be fine (Remember to register with Central Station otherwise u won't be on socom games with UK)

Could someone please help me figure out how to get on to North American servers? I have a US PS2 and SOCOM: CA game, but I can't even get my PS2 to work over here. I've tried plugging in with a step-down transformer, but it doesn't work. Can I buy a kit to have my PS2 work over here. MY model is the old chunky one, and I have an HDD in the console.

Any help would be appreicated. Thanks.
