problem when i play single player

ok whenever i play single player the game freezes and goes back to the main menu for some reason. i have no idea why or how but it does. any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

this happened to me while back in january first week l had the game...just dont care about offline for a few days 2-3 days tops and just play online if you have it..that should hold you over until you can get back offline to unlock everything.

after 2 or 3 days it will be fixed? i thought i had to clean the disc or something. if i have to clean the disk, can i apply a little bit of water to a cloth and gently rub it on the bottom of the disk? Thanks for the help.

I was going to suggest cleaning the disc. I guess you could run some water over it, and dry with a soft cloth. I have a real soft hand towel, that I keep in a plastic bag, to wipe any cd/disc's off with.

I didnt clean mine l just stayed online then got jealous of everyone having the IW and STG then 3 days later l tried and it worked no problem and hasnt given me any problems since. and remember the update caution thing at the bottom? it may result in load errors... So dont worry about and in a day or 2 it should be fine.

wow its been a few days. i cleaned the disc and everything. i bought a scratch remover and cleaned it with a soft, clean cloth. i think its just the disc cause whenever i try to play single player, it makes a weird noise inside the ps2. its like 2 plastic things are hitting each other, thats how it sounds. but online works perfectly fine. i opened the ps2 and cleaned my lens in case that would work, but nothing happened. i NEED the weapons and ghillee suits!! please helps eomone!!

how long has it been what 4-5 days?
Id suggest taking apart your system but remember watch out for the on switch and open buttons cords..then put your socom disk in and put the magnet to lock it in and watch it when you play one player...if you can see the problem you can understand what it is..and if you cant then try what l said before just play online to pass the time or antoher game, because l didnt clean my disk and l vaguely remember the clicking sound.
If this doesnt help, rent a copy of the game and see if that works and if it doesnt return your game for a money back guarantee refund.
And if it still doesnt work im sorry ive told you everything l know.

wel thanks for your help man. and i dont want to unassemble my ps2 AGAIN so i'll just wait, maybe rent a copy or sumthing idk.. i jsut want the IW STG and guilee suits, maybe someone wants to send me their memory card????? =D
