Are the ghillie suits worth unlocking?

The guille suits are a must if you ever plan on sniping, or sneaking around killing people with a smg, you lay down in a bush and you pretty much disappear. as for dificulty, I found the last level a little challenging on Admiral

yes, they are worth it. They do make a huge difference when someone is trying to snipe, I notice when I snipe they definently blend in well, usually have to wait for ppl wearing to fire a shot before i'm able to spot 'em.

to get the ghillie suits you have to beat the game on commander

You only have to complete a theatre of war to unlock the ghillie suit character for that theatre. So as soon as you're doing Nautical Salvage, you can play Crucible with the ghillie. Et cetera.

Worth it? If by "it" you are reffering to the time , and you have a network adapter then yes. Liutenant and Commander show no signifigant change at all really, and if you planed on unlocking them at all I don't see why you wouldn't just start on Commander. Online the Ghille suit takes up a grenade/ammo slot, but most people don't burden themselves with a full arsenal anyways for weight capacity reasons. No real downside. :)
