Exclamation Anybody Serving on the Armed Forces and Playing SOCOM??
I was wondering if anybody serving on the armed forces is playing SOCOM? What about people serving in Iraq? I curious about why? I mean if you have been in a place so violent why play war games...

What about Air Force and Marines... I mean the Army has America's Army, and the Navy the whole SOCOM franchise... do Air Force guy prefer to play as Marines or waiting for your own game??

Thanks, but....
Hey thanks... I am looking at the other thread.

But I am kinda curious as to why people on the armed forces like to play this game...

I mean I like to play games about things I would not do in real life, like Burnout (I HATE driving).

Or SOCOM; I love the game, but I am not into military culture or real life guns...

I guess
I guess people play for different reasons...

But when people are serving in Iraq for example that is pretty violent I think there must be some people (not everybody of course) that want to have some entertainement that is as far from that kinda dangerous reality... I don't mean playing Hello Kitty, but I though I would listen about people that prefers to play sports games, something more away from reality....

Then again I'm posting in a SOCOM forum so D'uh... Of course most people would play SOCOM, so I guess I am more curious about why playing it? Because it is a great game? Because people want games that in some way reflect a part of their lives? Because ... well I guess there are many reasons so I am curious as to range of reasons people in different jobs, different social backgrounds, different kinda families, and although not every body in every group would have the same reasons maybe trhere will be tendencies, or something to be learned about why people other that us like games(I mean I know why I like video games, but I don't know all the reasons other people have to like them, or to find them fun).

Basically it comes down to this. Regardless if youve seen action or not in the military branch you served in socom provides a SAFE and affective way to have fun and play with guns/grenades etc in a manner that you can walk away from after a couple hour game experience. In real life you dont always get second chances or another game. Atleast with socom or any war type game you can turn it off when your done and your still alive. This is the reason i play/played these types of games and im sure most peoples reasonings arent that much different.

Im sure there are a few people though that wouldnt want to play it after coming back from some serious action if they were seriously injured or lost friends. To each his own though.

Also i doubt if an Air Force game with its special forces (combat control, pararescue) would ever come out..... i call bullshyt but its all polotics im sure

One of our clan members was a Seal for 6 years(I think), and then joined the Army as a Ranger. I think he was in for almost 6 years again, when his Hummer got hit by a roadside bomb, in Iraq. Three of his team were killed, and he was blowen out of the Hummer. Hurt his back real bad. But he was able to run around the house, and kill the guy, who used a cell phone to set it off. I guess he still had the phone in his hand, when my buddy shot him. But he got discharged out, on a medical because of his back. And he loves to play Socom! But he likes playing Seals more than Terrorist. And by the way, he was a medic in both the Seals and as a Ranger.

I am in the Navy and been to Iraq twice. I play this game because it is completely different than real life (ONLINE MODE). In real life you just dont run n gun, you take your time and utilize tactics to ensure no one dies or gets wounded. The game is also fun for me to see little kids run around and kill everyone and get mad when they die because they couldnt kill that 4th guy while running through a barrage of automatic gunfire. Anyways that is my take on it
