"Blood. And blood trails. I want to be able to track a wounded enemy to his campsite.
Definitely destructable environments.
Civilians would be good. That would force more responsible use of nades.
Wild animals for mountains and forests and such. Maybe they could occasionally attack a camping sniper...
Definitely a more mature rating is required. It's tough enough to keep the 12 year olds out without Sony/Zipper deliberatley bringing them in.
Online knife attacks."
^^^^All those sound great to me, especially the occasional bear attack on campers, hahaha.
plus:
1) Unless it's a headshot, I'd like to see a little delay between being shot and actually falling down/becoming useless. Kinda like in Hitman, where you have a few seconds to get off some sloppy shots and or toss a nade right before you die. Of course this wouldn't apply to headshots, for those you hit the deck right away with no chance to do anything.
2) RAGDOLL PHYSICS for appropriate times, like getting hit by a nade, getting mined out of a vehicle, getting killed while near a ledge/railing, etc.
3) Create-A-Soldier, with certain physical attributes affecting gameplay. For example, you could be really muscular, and this would make you a little slower, but better at CQC. Stuff like that.

I would want a more interactive enviornment. I hate the fact that the sniper spots arent real sniper spots. I think you should be able to move rubble around in a urban city and move dirt and grass around and stuff. I also want better hit detection, more urban maps, different weather options. But most of all I want more realistic maps. I mean seriously, do you see Navy Seals running around open fields in Poland? No. I want more urban maps with better cover and not so many open spaces. With every new Socom it seems as though they distance themselves from the type of battlefield most soldiers see today. But the number one thing I would like to see is the elimination of NOOBS and the elimination of just running out and shooting at people. I want tactical play.

I agree on everything you guys have said(interactive environment, more weapons, customizable skins, blood trails, gunshot wounds and etc...Some things I would like to see is a dive animation. For instance a nade is thrown or you're being fired upon from an unknown direction and diving behind cover or to distance yourself would come in handy. Also shooting around cover such as seen in Killzone or Gears of War is a necessity. As much of a gameplay disappointment S:CA was to me I seriously hope Zipper began working on SOCOM PS3 as soon as Combined Assault shipped b/c the series is really struggling right now. If SOCOM PS3 isn't a drastic improvement then Rainbow Six Vegas and Killzone are gonna bury SOCOM.

I wish that Zipper would just quit, they're only getting worse.

This'll be long, but if this thread's going to do any good, it needs to be.
First, I want Zipper to take a look at the top shooters out there. Rainbow Six Vegas is a superb game. They need to look at games like that and pick up on the strong points. - Next-Gen Socom needs to be targeted at the adult audience. We want realism, we want blood, we want realistic injuries (.50 cal to head = your head is gone). I realize that the T rating was intended to get S:CA in the hands of more kids, but that's pointless. Adults buy these games, and if a kid wants it, an adult will likely get it for them.
- Same weapons for all factions! With the black market, anything is obtainable. I'm sick of only Seals having Claymores, and Mercs having the Model 18.
- Make weapon restrictions and attachment restrictions. If I'm the host, I want to be able to restrict Model 18s and Scopes. Also, I'd like to be able to turn off all grenades except for Smoke and Flashbangs. Or how about turning off 203s and leaving AT4s, RPGs and M3s turned on?
- Character Customization is an absolute must. Give us lots of options, and make upgrades/new options available as you progress in rank (see R6Vegas).
- Online Career / Split Ranks. With character customization, I'd want the ability to create a Seal character and a Mercenary character. Then, have your stats recorded seperately as to which faction you're playing. I like being a Seal because of the HK weapons, so I want a Seal career. I want Seal unlockables, and I want to see my stats just for my Seal performance. So that when I play as a Seal, it counts toward my Seal stuff. Same as when I play as a Terrorist.
- Seperate Ranks from Leaderboards. Having it so that only top players can be certain ranks encourages people to look for ways to exploit the ranking system so that they can be a normally unreachable rank. If you make it so that any and all can be top rank if they play enough games (again, see Rainbow 6), then nobody's going to look for an exploit anymore. Then have the leaderboards based on individual performance, because no one's ever going to look at that leaderboard. Your stats should be for your own review, so that if you're that serious you can look at things you want to work on/improve. Your stats should not be measured against the rest of the community unless Zipper can ensure that the community isn't cheating.
- Close Quarters Combat. I'm not talking about Kung Fu sh*t here, but I'd like to have some CQC. I can see why the Knife Kill isn't in there, considering it'd be hard to land it when you're enemy's in third person. But why can't we have the rifle butt? What I'd really love to see is being able to use someone as a human shield. That would be great. Say you could rifle butt to stun them/knock them off balance, and then grab them as a shield.
- First person view for drivers and exposed guys on the top turret, and allow them to use night-vision at night. That, or put headlights on the damn vehicles.
- More interactive / destructable environments. There should be a breach spot on every single wall of the game. If there's an area behind that wall that you can access from a door or some other way, there should be a breach spot on the wall. Every single openable door should be destroyable with an explosive. Every single window should be able to be shot out. I should be able to jump on top of anything that I can reasonably jump to (uhhh, barrels and boxes on Citadel anyone?), I should also be able to climb ledges and walls, that are also accessable. I should be able to climb in and out of broken windows that are large enough for me to do so.
- Spawn invincibility for respawns. Make me invinceable for 5 seconds or so, at least long enough to pull out a god damned weapon.
- Give the host the abiltiy to force start a game from the lobby, as well as boot people from the lobby.

Right on MEGA Love your thoughts on rank and the human shield thing I mentioned Id like too. Then funny thing is some of this stuff was already inS1.The force and grenade specific restrictions(i.e.keep flashbangs and smoke) I dont know what possessed Zipper to take that crap out.Very frustrating also if it looks like you can jump on you should be able to your soo right with that one.I love how you can jump on the roof in seals base in crucible from a barrel that is like 12 ft away(impossible) but barrels in citadel that are maybe 1 ft high you cant.

The breachable walls are an excellent idea. Just as long as the environment becomes fully or near fully interactive I believe SOCOM PS3 will be good. I believe someone mentioned like moving rubble around to conceal yourself(which would be great for snipers). Now that I think about it, this would make camping way too easy so I doubt we'll see that. But as far as interacting with environments I still stand by that. For example: shooting a hole through a box to snipe from, blocking doorways, hallways, etc with objects, setting objects on fire(where fire does damage now) and so forth.
The shielding idea is good and easy to implement as seen in countless MGS games. For online purposes the person being used as a shield has to mash a button to get free or they could implement the SIXAXIS controls where both players need to shake in order to gain control. Also if alive players could lay under dead players in order to conceal themselves would be nice.
For Zipper not to take advantage of the PS3's cell processor and add some more realism and content to SOCOM is a damn shame. IMO SOCOM is relying too much on the fact that their online can support up to 32 players where as most games in this genre only do 16. I mean let's be honest folks S:CA was just a $40 map pack. Zipper needs to get off their arses and start producing.

Like some of the others, I'd like to see interactive enviornment. Being able to choose if it's windy, foggy, snow etc. And have that weather affect the weapons or use of them. If it's windy, snipers are going to have to adjust. If it's to foggy, a airstrick can't see where to drop. Stuff like that.
And I want to be able to destroy anything in the game, that you could in real life. Plant C-4 on a truck/tank, and blow up the treads, etc. Shoot a .50 cal round thru a engine, and it stops the car/truck/etc. Lob a nade into a room, and it messes up the furniture, along with whoever is in there. Shoot a HP tank round into a house, and boom, it's rubble. That kind of stuff.
And I want to be able to pick what kind of rounds I'm shooting. If I don't want tracers, I can click them off. If I want to shoot a .50 cal explosive round, I can. And I want to be able to choose what kind of ordnance I want the planes to use. If I need a bunker buster, I can call for it. If I think CBU(cluster bomb units) will cover the area better, I want that.
And I don't know if a bunch of gore is needed, but I would like a better rag doll effect. If a head gets hit, with a .50, then it's gone. If you shoot one in the leg, it's gone. And I'd like to see the body fall down, like in real life. Not just go flat, and fall off a roof, etc. If the weapon gets hit, it gets knocked out of your hand, or can't be used. And your clothing gets ripped/torn as you get hit, near miss with a nade, etc.
And I want to see a female form as part of the customizable skins. I know there are no females in the Seals, at this time. But there are lots of females playing the game. And I'm sure most of them would like to have a female body to customize.
On-line knife/bayonet/rifle butt use would be great. And I'd also like to see trip wires used. Both in Claymores, and other mines. And floating/underwater mines. And I still want different color smoke, other than red and white. And White Phosphorus (WP/Willy Peter) nades/rounds.
Having all the old Socom maps would be cool!
I also like the idea if you make the room, you can really pick what weapons and or accessories for them, that can be used.
And some of the old scenarios that were metioned before. Like stopping a train, or taking down a airport would be some great ideas, of a map.
