Clips vs. ammo packs

Hey guys just need some clarification.

An attachment for the gun is a "clip" I believe this gives you clips with more capacity? right?

But under the additional equipment you can carry, there is "ammo" (extra ammo) and there something called an "ammo pack". What is an ammo pack?

An ammo pack works like this. You select it from your armory. It has 6 "shots" if you point it at the ground and "shoot" it you give yourself one more clip of ammo for all of your guns (including things like claymores or rocket launchers). If you point it at a team member, you give them one more clip. It wont be available for online.

Except for co-op.
I didn't know you could give teammates ammo with it though. Looks like whoever's sniping in my squad will be carrying med packs and ammo packs.
