Million Dollar Question
Do red crosshairs without question, 100% definately mean you are gonna hit your target?

My answer would be no because it would seem there are many a times when I am chasing a moving target have and have nothing but red crosshairs but are shooting at them for several seconds and unfortunately sometimes several clips......lol. Now I think that is a key point. Notice I said a MOVING target.

Now I would tend to say red crosshairs on a STILL target are gonna mean a hit almost all the time. EX: You get to the opponents spawn and there is a player not playing. You put your crosshairs on him and you are gonna hit them without question.

Another reason I bring this up (and I am guilty of this also) is that you are constantly hearing people say "I was lighting that guy up". Well is that because we all are assuming that red crosshairs is an automatic hit when maybe it isn't. Any moderators or Socom 3 officials please contribute your thoughts or help us clear up the issue.

Red crosshairs only mean that your crosshairs are on a guy. It has nothing to do with hitting him.

If you are sitting still, and your crosshair is red, then you should probably hit them.

But if you are moving, then you'll see the area around the crosshair get larger, so the bullets may not hit where you are aiming.

no like people said, it doesnt mean your actually hitting them. Guns spray so bad in s3, its ridiculous. The best is when your actually reading the guys name the whole time in a gun fight, while he takes you down. Gotta love s3 guns.....

I'd also like to add in, as a reference look at the size of your crosshairs. Stand still, don't turn or anything, and look how small they get. If they are like that on target, you will most likely hit him. Now go from standing still to running, and look at your crosshairs get bigger. This means "less accuracy", or more spray, whichever way you look at it. Now when you're running, turn left right and right to left and stuff, and look how big your crosshairs get. Also do this while shooting and look how big they get.

Simply put, if you are able to stand still and shoot at someone you should do it, just so you have the accuracy advantage. If you can't stand still, try moving/strafing slowly, and if not, that's where the normal running around strafing comes into play.

All good points.......I will tell you this though. I have been using the laser attatchment as of late and have had a string of better results since then. Still haven't had alot of success with the front grip attatchment but that might be because I still don't have a large enough sample size of games using it to make a decision yet on it.

Try using the fire button in small 2-3 bullet bursts, crouch and don't move (if they havn't seen you)... Autofire over a certin range with most weapons (over 15-20m eg) and you wont hit anything. You'll just get there attention enough to turn around and kick your arse.

After reading the first line of your post I was a bit spectical but i think i've given a constructive post. enjoy.

Red crosshairs mean that the centre dot is located on an enemy, or a red dot if you are using a rifle laser/pistol laser. Once you start shooting the crosshaiurs get bigger and bigger increasing the amount of area the bullets will spread out in and the IW-80 is a **** of a gun to use without a front grip coz it sprays heaps. Think about it if you run at a guy with an M80 and he is 100m away and the crosshairs are red, you shoot are you gonna hit him? NO!!!

I believe the lazer helps with accuracy however if you don't have a pistol grip to help balance the weapon you do have less accuracy. Myself I like the IW-80 with pistol grip suppressor 1 and the STG-77 pistol grip and suppressor 1 also. The crosshairs aren't really something to base your chances on hitting them I say the idea spoz gave about the burst may help.

No because your gun isnt perfectly accurate. Its not going to just go there. There is a thing called air... it makes the bullet screwed.
