C4 and Vehicles
Just a random thought, but since C4 doesn't have a lot of uses why not have the ability to use C4 on vehicles. It would give another option for foot mongers against stationary vehicles. What would even be interesting is placing the C4 on different portions of the vehicle to cause different results. For example, if you placed C4 on the sides of a tank you perhaps blow of one of the tracks making it so it can't be moved but still fires. Or if you place it on the front end you could disable the cannon.

Now I realize this is not a very practical idea, but I am bored at work and thought it atleast a fun idea.

I agree, it's a good idea. Think about this though:
You plant C4, and it gives you 4 seconds before it detonates. In a situation with a vehicle, you're very likely to be killed by the vehicle explosion due to its wide blast radius and the short timer on the C4.

It wouldn't be a bad idea, so long as the C4 couldn't physically destroy the tank, just eliminate the abiltiy to move and fire... High Explosive on the outside of a tank does very little damage except to external systems, but it can make mince meat out of an MBT... so long as you have a few very brave guys

I think the individual targeting of external systems would be a great realistic addition to socom, a game which prides itself on being more realisitc than most... the ZSU 24 anti aircraft gun proved to be a potent tank eliminator because it's high rate of fire and accuracy (as well as the 23mm shells)... if you could hit the barrel of the tank with a rocket launcher it would be untouched in most ways except that it could no longer fire through a mangled gun... elimination of the treads would be somewhat harder... and I guess the destruction of the MG on top is feasible with a .50 cal rifle

I've always been preaching this idea, but come to think of it, this would make the tank near useless. You all have had those times inside the tank where there's that pesky footsoldier who's just too good at dodging to be run over, too close to fire the cannon, and smart enough to point his gun at your MG hatch?
Now imagine him being able to instantly destroy you. No fun. The other vehicles would be okay since they're usually fast and it would be hard to stick 'em.
Like Jim said, it would be a better system if the tank took a bunch of C4s to actually destroy.

I'm guessin the tank would have to be stationary. (So that if there is only 1 person holding the tank, then that means they have to keep driving or the SEALs might just plant C4 on it)

I was thinking the same, the only problem I see is that it would be impossible because the driver would just constantly spin on a dime since the gunner's angle is unaffected.

I too hope they make C-4 so you can stick it on different vehicles. And other things, for that matter. But you shouldn't be able to blow up the tank, with any single charge. Like others have said, it should be able to blow a tread or main gun. And if you got, say about 5 charges, then you could destroy it. As far as other vehicles, the smaller ones, could be taken out, with a single charge.

i like the idea of hitting the tank at different parts to stop it. like hitting the cannon stops it fromn firing. C4 on a car is a good idea, but i think that you should blow up the C4. like put C4 on a car, wait in some bushes, when a guy tries to get into the car BOOM! or take the car, drive it into the enemies' base, bail out and then blow it up. why not take one of those cargo trucks, get some TNT in the back and blow up the enemies' base with. i just came up with a different game mode.

I don't want to compare things but i like what BF2:MC did with c4 how you could toss it on any thing and could remote det. it can you see a buggie drive by and you jump while tossing C4 on it, turing and geting the guy that tried to kill you......... fun times.......
