What does pwn mean????
I mean why not just say own or owned, what does pwned mean besides someone who is isn't able to spell properly. If anyone knows where this term originated I would be glad to know. Or maybe I'm an idiot and am missing something very obvious. Enlighten me on this new phenomenon.

I could very easily call you a n00b and make many remarks about pwning you, which would be funny because you wouldn't understand what i aws saying to ya.
But seriuosly, I think the term was always popular, just in the correct spelling of 'owned'. That changed when a game did a typo that caused the death message to say 'You got pwned by -----!'. A buch of people decided they liked it, and thus it became popular.

It originated in a game of Warcraft, where some kid modded the game to say "so and so" got owned everytime someone died, but he typed "pwned" by accident. And when it started saying people were pwned, kids caught on and used it themselves.
(my friend found the story somewhere)

I heard it was a conspiracy between heaven and hell. The devil created "pwned" to destroy all mature thought processes in adolescent to mature aged adults. Then Jesus came along and f'd all that up. It was buried beneath centuries of falsified information, until one day the Archbishop accidentally discovered it masturbating to kiddy porn. Who cares, noob, pwned,1337 sp33k, its all rather cheesy. What happened to the good ol' American insults? Not this lame flamer crap.

I worry about anyone that actually still uses this completely ridiculous term. Weak!
