Terrorists could get their hands on any weapon there is nothing keeping them from doing so. The only reasons most terrorists don't use modern advanced weapons is because whatever source they're using charges too much or they don't know how to use it and maintain it effectively.

Snipers/DM's are using m4 SPR's, m16a4 with acog's and scoped m14/m21's.

The ussocom/army is going back to .45 acp big time with a new hk 45. It's a slimer usp. The rest of the military will follow. No more 9mm. :D

Army/marines are going to start using sr-25 rifles to. I forget what they are calling it.
Hooray for that bro! The 1911 is still a fine piece and the biggest mistake military procurement made was going to 9mm. The HK USP is a very fine weapon indeed to replace the Beretta and Sig.

With all the new advancements namely the flat top reciever w/ piccatinny rail to the M4/M16 why would they want to spend our money on the SCAR. Seems to me you would be right about the SCAR. Plus the USMC just purchased a butt load of Colt HBAR's (M16) in A3 configuration for supplying ACOG's or EWOTech sighting systems. The Corps is also bringing back the M14 rifles for Force Recon as well as purchased new Kimber 1911 for FR.

Personally, I would like to see them scrap the 5.56MM and go back to the 7.62MM

BTW, whoever said the SCAR looks like a 552...IMHO it looks nothing like any of the SIG 550 series. Look at the upper assembly and pistol grip. It has FN written all over it.

My bad Fred, you did mention bringing back the M14 for Designated Marksmen.

BTW, the new Kimber 1911 is called the Warrior.

The biggest one wasnt even it's design but the fact that there were no cleaning kits issued with it because Washington said that the new rifles were self-cleaning and didnt need to be cleaned. Also they used a different kind of gunpowder which further fouled the chamber and barrel with carbon.

And look up some AAR's and acounts from Iraq and Afghanistan. Youll see what I mean about the complaints of the .223. The enemy is almost always malnurished and very skinny, which often time means the bullet will pass right through their body, rather than hit bone, or richochet around inside of the body as the .223 was orginally meant to do. The round just doesnt have the profile and knockdown power of a 30 cal.
SHASTINTOR, I agree 100% with you about the .223 and the AR family of rifles and carbines. I read many After Action Reports from Iraq and Afghanistan and the .223 (even with it's high velocity) does not have the punch that the .308 does.

Ballistics is a funny thing. The wound damage of a high velocity round like the .223 IS more severe....more to severe to fix. The damage a .308 does less significant damage as far as repairing tissue but it dumps it's energy faster into the target and causes more shock. Basically it will stop a fight sooner. No one questions the devestation to flesh the .223 causes just it's ability to stop a man from fighting before he dies. My opinion at least.

Personally, I love the AK47 and other varients. They are almost indestructable and almost never fail. I have owned a Romanian version for some time and never had it fail no matter what garbage ammo I fed it. It's even a stamped version instead of milled and it is still as accurate as the day I bought it. I did put a recoil buffer to help keep the vibration from dumping it's energy into the stamped reciever but still it's a wonder. I have an Oly Arms M4 and it is superb...superb for an M4 but it still acts up occasionally (mainly when I feed it cheap ammo). I have owned a Colt M16 and it was garbage, IMO.

SCARs have been in video games for a while now. They are most notable in the GHOST RECON games! They are very good guns, but the M4 is still amazing!

Actually this is the weapon that will soon totally replace the m4, i know a few people in the armed forces and who have shot and said it was a pretty goood gun, and some units are already using it in battle to test it out
