We just got 1 too. It doesn't have an on/off switch like the old fatty one does. It just has the red stand by button.
Btw...I've u had any trouble downloading the 2nd patch since u got the new slim ps2?

I have had the slim and there is no problem with me with the Socom patch. Maybe its your memory card or firewall or idk, something.

I don't think the PS2 would affect the patch download :?

Thats more of a memory card thing or internet connection speed.

Red isn't off, it's standby. The only way to completely turn it off is to unplug it... (The one thing I truly hate about the new one, no off switch, wtf!?) But you could have found this information out by simply opening the brand new owner's manual you got with it. I'm just stating the overlooked obviousness of it, don't think that I am being rude.

i have one. your actually advised to turn it off after use. they dont have cooling fans so they wiull tend to overheat if kepy in standby mode. also with the patch, i havent had an problems with it at all. just have to do it twice , but ive heard that from a lot of ppl who have the older syle ps2.

Yeah you shouldn't have trouble with the patch if you have the slim ps2.
