This subject came up while I was online earlier today. This guy told me that if I quick switched to binoculars from my primary weapon when an enemy is close that their gun wont "pop" & they wont know ur around. I used to do this all the time on socom 2 with my grenades. I assumed it was the same on this game & have just been using my grenades in that same manner. I'm pretty sure it still works the same in this one. I've never tried it with the binoculars, but I'm assuming it works with anything other than your primary weapon, obviously, and maybe ur handgun. Anyone know this for sure??

the gun still goes up, like someone else said, when they are in your field of vision. since the majority of my kills are stealth, or from behind, i constantly have my grenades, or smoke on the backup quick select of L1. if im sitting in a bush, i'll have my grenades out, looking for a kill. if i'm not sure wether i see someone or not, i'll pull my gun out real quick, if it pops up, i'll take a shot, if not, i'll pull the grenades back out. i dont know about the binoculars, but they're about as close to useless as you can get... if they put it on the end of the gun like in socom 2 you could just zoom in w/them instead of making them seperate it'd be more practical, but at the same time not as realistic i guess as the way it is now.

No I'm pretty sure it goes up when you are in a field of vision, not when an enemy is in your field of vision.

Exactly, like I stated before, you have to basically see the person on the screen from my experiences. If you are following a person from behind, your gun doesnt go up does it. Why?? Because that person doesnt have eyes in the back of their head. If the person is in the field of view then the gun goes up.

Now, when a person is in the field of view with there primary out the gun defiantly goes up. But you raise an interesting point with the binoculars. Lets say someone hides in a bush directly in fron of you but with lets say claymores out. Will the gun go up?? Ill try and test this with a few of my friends.

lol agreed
Fenway, I think it's because the ghillies are so effective that this feature is necessary. & u would feel bad for the dude? If someone likes to use stealth or even the run & gun method & they haven't figured out how to utilize their grenades/other in order for the enemies gun not to pop, I'm sorry but that's just sad. Ok so maybe snipers are at an obvious disadvantage, but hey that's the price u pay. Each tactic, whether it be sniping/stealth/or run & gun has its own negative and positive aspects. That's what makes the wonderful world of socom go round. :)

Lol, I think the guy who told you this was just trying to get an easy kill off you, by walking up on you as you're binoc'd in!
