for the guy that said this ... 1) For where you've put 'M16A2 (Real Designation: Colt M16A2 *Former AR-15*), I think an AR-15 is just the civilian model of the rifle. It has a shorter magazine capacity and no bayonete (sp?) fixing point. M16A2 is just the military designation given to the rifle I believe.
2) For X-M8, the X is there because it was a prototype. But I think it now has a final design and if being field tested. So I believe it is just a regular M8 and not an X-M8.
the ar15 is the civilian version yes but it can have a 30 round mag jus like a m16.the m16A2 is a single or 3 round burst gun unlike the A1 which was full auto in nam.also the ar15 is only single shot and can mount a bayonette if u get a preban 1.post ban has no bayonette lug. The xm8 is being tested alot so it can be a prayer for our military so we dont get deaths from things like jams and not being able to shoot for long times. its gunna be the AK47 of .223 cal guns. The M14 was a rifle that was given to the recruit before the updated M16A1. it was given to recruits in bootcamp to represent responsiblity. They received this rifile back in Veitnam. When they went to battle they mostly got M16s or M60s. Answer your Question Yes it was only used by the US but was used by all branches of the military. HOO RAH! GET SOME MARINES GET SOME!
