Installation Info
I noticed some people asking me questions on AIM about installing the game data and what-not, so I'll just make some info about what to do.
Installing the Game
- The game selection icon on the XMB will show two options when you put the disc in:
- Socom Confrontation Game
- Socom Confrontation Game Installer
- You must select the Game Installer first before you can play (and if you have the Beta, delete those files first). It will prompt you to download the data and then will install afterwards.
** The screen will saying "Installing... please wait" for about a minute or so, so don't think that it's not working or is frozen. Just give it some time. It will also do that during the installation step as well after the download process has finished. **
- Once finished with the download/installation, you go to the Socom Confrontation Game option and select that.
- Once at the main menu, you will press Start and it will prompt you to download Update 1.10. Once you finish downloading that, go back to the game.
It might say that the data is corrupted. So go back to the XMB and go into the Save Game Data folder and delete the Confrontation file (do NOT delete the Game Data Utility file or you will have to go through the Game Installer again).
- Once this is all finished, you can play Socom Confrontation. Enjoy!

Well, I have received this "data corrupted" message twice already... I deleted all of my files before I even picked up the copy of the game.
I'm really going to be angry if it happens a third time.

And this doesn't include trying to set up the new headset. Neither of my PS3's are picking up a bluetooth device.
I was pretty excited about getting the game... but all these installs are making it anticlimactic.

You can sync the headset via USB cable now. Just plug directly into the headset from the PS3.
Look in the back of the manual included with the game.

I just picked my copy up a little while ago so, the new Headset can get a good charge before I go home. Nice looking Mic.

You sure your deleting the right data ? The Game Data area is different then the Saved Game Data . Make sure you delete it ONLY in the 'Saved Game Data'...and look through your list completely. I had to delete it in 3 seperate sections of 'Saved Game Data' because of the Beta.

After the screen went dark and said use the XMB to delete corrupted files the next screen said try again or cancel. I hit cancel and it loaded up fine. Then I just saved over the other files.

I have to admit I would've thought my PS3 froze up. That's a good point out. Still doing the download of the damned after 1.5 hours.

It took you that long? The whole process (installation of the game + downloading and installing the update) took about 20 minutes on my end. I wonder the cause of the large time discrepancy.

Restart the ps3, i swear to god it works. when it comes back on it will resume the download and it should go faster! My beta DL was going slow as all h3ll and I accidentally shut off the ps3 while jacking around and when I booted the machine back up it resumed the DL at twice the speed....
