Rep Power: 13 | First Impressions thread For those who just got the game and are playing there first round right now.
Post your first impressions and opinions of Confrontation. Tell us what you think!
-------------------------------------
I picked mine up yesterday and played two games. The main menu moves a bit smoother and the loading times are much faster. The graphics seem sharper than that of the Beta and much more fluid character movements as well. The reloading still kinda sucks and having to fix your quick-action settings everytime you die is a bit irritating.
So far it looks like a solid game and I will most likely be keeping it. Hats off to Slant Six. ______________________ OME6A: It magnum forces my serbian rage to studovich all over the place. |

Rep Power: 19 | So far, this "data corrupt" message (that I've seen twice) is starting to piss me off. I won't even bother starting a lengthy rant on the horrendously slow game install file, and the equally slow 1.10 software update download. ______________________ Introduce a little anarchy, you upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos! |

My impression ? I will never play the default ranked games with the 8 minute timers. I'd rather hang myself then wait 6 minutes after you die for the next round. I tried to hang in there...and go through the whole 'Ranked Elimination' but couldnt do it. It would probably take till the year 2010 to finish.
Anybody know if we could make the Custom games ranked ? If we cant, I could only see the majority of gamers playing unranked for this game.
I just made a custom game. "Frostfire Rankd" in U.S. East 1. With respawn off and friendly fire on.. but there is nowhere to find out if its ranked or unranked.
Im also pizzed off that they didnt fix the control settings issue when you save a custom control setting saved. If you turn your system off, you have to go to that control settings area and load it each time for it...or else you get the original default control settings when u play. |

That's what Rick does (I think he's turned it off maybe twice in the past four months). Just make sure that it's pretty well ventilated (like near a window) and you keep as much dust off the vent thingies as possible (of course, it's better for any electronic equipment if you do that). ______________________

As for Socom...first impression was.......MEH. Simply because I made the mistake of first playing those 8 minute round games. When people don't know what the **** to do.....you can guarantee that the game will last 50 minutes. Still running into some bugs, but it is less buggy than the beta, thank god. I would still like the scoreboard to show overall score, and not just round though. At the end of the game, the overall stats come up for like 8 seconds....yah, that's helpful. Had the issue where my arm was in the wrong location, it was up in the air not even holding onto the gun.
The headset I think just poked out my god damn eardrum. It is rather uncomfortable. Sound quality is good, looks good, and has some neat functions, but it is just a pain to wear. Especially when you are trying to put it on.
Also, is anyone else having this bug??? No matter if I am crouching or laying down, if I zoom in with my scope, my guy automatically stands up. But he doesn't ACTUALLY stand up, but when I am looking threw the scope, I am at the height as if I was standing, but I am still crouched/prone.

I dunno if it's a bug or that's how they want it to work. If you're looking over an edge or something it's helpful, but if you're trying to look under something it's a pain.
Overall I'm really enjoying the game. Wish I wasn't so busy right now, but I can see myself wasting time with this game like I did with SOCOM 1 & 2. ______________________

However it could also be that your motion sensing is in operation and your guy is poking his head up due to the position of your controller.
Does the game track stats in unranked rooms? I'm not too bothered about actual rank, but I always get a little thrill looking at my ratios. Maybe there are two sections, ranked and unranked stats as there were in RFoM? |

Thats basically where all my stats are going to be. Theres no way I can keep my sanity waiting through 8 minutes per death. (probably more like 5, but you know what I mean)
Yea Omega is right...no matter what settings you choose for custom games...even if you turn friendly fire on and all that...its still counted as an Unranked game. Which is stupid if you ask me. The only Ranked games are the ones automatically created when you join the room. (8 x 8 , 16 x 16 medleys and crap)
Would be great if they answered more in the manual. Nothing about what "Local" stats mean in the "Statistics" section.. Or if we can unlock Rewards playing Unranked. If not, I'll rarely play this game. |

Rep Power: 7 | Kasbah is awesome. The first round I played that map, 6 kill streak, should have been 7 but I chose the wrong split at the end. Besides that, the game is also awesome.
However, the bluetooth mic sucks balls. It's waaaay too big, and won't fit on my ear, which has never happened with any mic I've previously owned. |

Rep Power: 8 | This is game is fantastic and is definitely SOCOM at it's finest. If people are going to let the small things ruin the game for them, then it's their loss. I can tell I'm going to be spending a lot of time with this game in the future (probably won't buy another game for the PS3 until next year, with the exception to possibly LBP).
I love how there is a "mini loading screen" on your cross hairs when you reloading. Just one of the many awesome small features in this game. |

The only thing that has ever ruined any Socom game for me, was retards playing.
"I am just going to sit in this one area with a sniper rifle, scoped into one completely random position, while the one person on the other team is in the hostage room waiting for me to try to rescue them. *8 minutes later* WTF WHERE WAS HE!!!?!" |
