Rep Power: 0 | Confrontation interview & feedback survey Just passing on some information and a survey...
As usual, prior to a SOCOM release we're trying to get across the important information to the development team. (and I see you guys are discussing a "petition" as well)
It is pretty obvious that the fans of SOCOM are all on the same page... The worry is that the developers just don't get it.

Specifically to this broader audience, when asked about the large drop off of online players with the release of SOCOM 3 and Combined Assault, Luisi says he attributes that mostly to the addition of the credit card verification.
| I found that quite laughable. Luckily it was being stressed throughout the interview about returning the game back to the ways of Socom 1 and 2. I would be very happy if all the maps were 8v8 only, but I don't think that is going to happen. |

Rep Power: 5 | I took the survey, and good interview.
It's nice to see that they acknowledge that some of their stuff does not work right, like the search feature for getting games and the ranking system. It definitely seems like that want to bring back all the players that stopped playing during the course of Socom 3 and CA. |

Rep Power: 7 | I saw your site a long time ago, and the article a few days ago. Nice job on both, its great to see there is another clan out there that can actually communicate with the developers.
Although I have to admit I had a hard time choosing between the weapons vs the map sizes on socom 3.... Ultimately I went with weapons since even playing on fault, citadel, or another small map can still suck. Don't get me wrong, I've had a lot of fun on S3, but not even in the same category of fun that I had with socom 2, heck even with Socom (original).
The only thing I didn't like that Seth said (well, that I disagreed to a rather great extent) was that they thought the verification system is what killed socom 3. How many people actually did that one time registration again, how many hundreds of thousands? If that was the problem, Socom 3 wouldn't of slowly died, it would of just never took off in the first place, which definitely wasn't the case. Don't get me wrong, the verification most definitely did have a negative impact on the game, just not nearly as much as the change in gameplay did.

Rep Power: 2 | Hey man, thanks for takign the time to get that out to us. Good stuff. Quote: |
He seemed more or less aware of the desires from the “hard core” SOCOM players but appears to believe that the game should be tailored for a broader audience.
| I don't know if this is really important, but it doesn't sound so great to me. If it's online only shouldn't the game be tailored for the hardcore gamer? The casual fans are typically people who buy it for the single player mode, but that won't even be available. I don't see casual fans being too interested in all the new features, like customized clan uniforms, whereas hardcore fans will love it. Oh well, hopefully it will work out. Maybe Seth just isn't a good interview guy haha. |

Rep Power: 4 | Bump for the survey.. I know Zipper/Sony's pigeon boy reads the SCEA boards so I'm sure the developers do read over the results. ______________________

Rep Power: 13 | If the field of view for the radar is small, why have it at all? If an enemy appears on your radar only when you can physically see them, it won't really matter, as you would be probably shooting at them.
However, if you are able to see enemies on your radar when they are behind objects, this is a big NO. The element of surprise and stealth is gone completely. ______________________

SHOOT ME NOW!" appears over your head
also -- about the question concerning the weapons -- they ABSOLUTELY need to fix this... i actually liked it better when you had a sniper, you could shoot whatever you could see, but now the case is on prowler i know being 100% sure -- the M16 reaches farther than a sniper, possibly the IW-80-A2 but im not quite sure on that one. |
