Reread my post, it allows you to spawn near each other, its open mic instead of closed mic (and you can still talk to everyone in the game by holding the talk button), your names stand out, etc.

I know what you meant, but I still don't really like the concept.

It may seem that way at first, but if you get a PS3 to play this socom and all the other cool games coming out, rent resistance and give it a try; most people use the squads in R:FOM, they're pretty useful.
However, since Socom is a round based shooter (usually), it's a bit different than the normal resistance games (usually respawn). Therefore, it's not as effective, although still useful in some situations. Also the maps aren't nearly as large (hopefully).

The main thing that has me excited is that somebody other than Zipper is creating a version of socom.. I gave up on Zipper after the disaster they labeled Socom 3 and I didn't even make an attempt to try CA(maybe when map pack #2 comes out- 2009?). Keeping us all in the dark for years about their attempts to end C9 and the other cheats doesn't help their rep much either; realistically they most likely can't do ANYTHING with the current DNS system and a <8MB patch limit.

There is a huge difference between DNS and DNAS..... That's like saying AA when you mean AAA.
And I have to admit, I really have lost faith in zipper.
Maybe zipper should design it, and Insomniac/Konami should maintain it?

What I'm most excited about, is hoping this game is great so I can stop hearing how great S1 & S2. They are old outdated games that noone plays anymore, so lets stop comparing every game to them. I mean if no new games came out you would complain that your stuck playing the same maps all the time. New maps come out and you complain that the old maps were better... Makes me think you S2 fanboys aren't happy unless your complaining

It's tough to compare to the originals... it's unfortunate, but it will happen anyway, regardless of the media (movie, cartoon, game, etc.) the sequels are made on.

You're damn right... but thanks for your two cents anyway.

That's the way it is, you complain how CA BLEW, and s2 would be much better if they just fixed the cheating.
But hey, I mean, I didn't play that game for ages.

The ONLY thing I care about is the customization. I couldn't care less if they're bringing Crossroads back (Blizzard was a better map), adding or taking away game modes or any other useless crap that supposedly makes a game "better". All that the Socom series needs is a way to make it more personal.

Good point... your thoughts/opinions have been missed around here lately... great to hear them once again, my friend.
