I clicked this section by mistake, only to see this at the top of the list. This is the first time I've heard of this, so I just read all seven pages like a giddy school girl reads a note from a boy.

All of this sounds fantastic and I am sure that I will buy a PS3 now when I hear a **** load more about this.
BTW here's a preview from 1UP.com that is fantastic. I recomend you to go check it out.
SOCOM Confrontation PS3 Preview, SOCOM Confrontation Playstation 3 Preview
EDIT: It will only ship with five maps all based on the North Africa area operation and it will updates constantly.
Clans will be able to make their own uniform for clan matches and individual players will be able to change any aspect of their character.
I seriously cannot wait!!!!!!!!

The news of a new develpoer could be a good change, but from the trailer, large scale changes have already been made, which includes the new view, which I'm not too thrilled for.
The idea of customizing your charatcer would easily force me into buying a PS3 and the game, for I have wanted that since Socom 2. They should look at 25 to Life, that game has great customization; no two players look alike.

There's a few things that concern me though. For starters it only comes with 5 maps, and is reliant on periodic updates and DLC. When was map pack #2 supposed to come out? That's what I thought.
Secondly, all this talk about smaller, more confined and detailed environments that are reminiscent of S1 & S2. That's all fine and good, but they're going to cram 32 people into them? It gives me flashbacks of Citadel and Bitter Jungle when I think of what it'll be like with 32 people on a small map.
It's still pretty exciting and promising so far.

While in the trailer it looked like a new Crossroads, I think it should be about twice the size as the original one. The map isn't tiny, but with 32 players... C'mon. I'm disappointed about five maps, too, but this is just in the beginning.

Whether or not they get a rumble controller out in time with the newest Socom will weigh heavily on how much I play the new game.

I thought the PS3 is able to use the PS2 controllers? If not, I do hope a rumble feature is added in the near future for controllers, I can't stand playing Socom without it.

I hope that was just for testing purposes. Open mics can be good, but I would rather do away with them. There's nothing I hate more than having numerous people try and talk at the same time, then everyone stops talking, only to find that no one will talk, so everyone starts talking again. Ugh, terrible.
I hope the radar situation is just for testing, too. Sure, it would get rid of campers, but the maps are going to be smaller, it won't be as hard as Socom 3 and CA. It would piss me off if the enemy could tell where you are, even if you had the same advantage. Anyone would be able to kill another player, the game wouldn't require skill.

The players move like stiff machines walking in mud. I would rather choose excellent gameplay over stunning graphics. (See Grand theft auto and socom 1-3/ca)
So when Krave and others say that this was not zipper's socom and that they are truly making their own next gen socom 4 for the ps3 I was relieved. Because Socom Confrontations would make me leave socom for good and stick to Socom/Ca as long as the servers still ran. To me this game looks more like all the other socom lookalike tactical shooters. I dont want socom to turn into those games. Vehicles was a nice addition to Socom 3 and I want that to stay the same. This game makes me want to hurl

Krave is wrong, don't listen to him. The game is in very early stages, it's going to look like **** until later down the road. All games look like this in the beginning, just wait until the next updates.

I agree 110%. I hope you can have an option to switch between each camera angle if this is the new camera view. However, other games I have played had a regular third person view, yet when you zoom with a non-scoped weapon, the view turned into an over the shoulder type thing. Perhaps this is just that... hopefully.

I don't want to be forced into paying money for a PS3 when I cannot stand to think of a life without playing the most recent socom atleast once.

I hear you on that. At the end of the trailer I noticed right away that Zipper was not in it. I immediately started thinking of different things. It could be a good thing, the Zipper and Sony combo didn't quite work that great. However, with a new developer, they could easily destroy any hope of a Socom feel to the new game. For all we know, they have their own ideas, making it very distant from any other Socom game.
I hope the game stays the same, gameplay wise. I am very excited for customization, but not so much for the new view and five maps. We'll all have to wait and see, it's too early to tell. I don't want to be over excited and create a lot of hype over this just yet, I don't even have a PS3. However, I was thinking of getting one just for GTA 4, along with another game or two, but this would easily persuade me to take one step further.
Until more information is released, all we can do is dream. Hopefully it will turn out how we would like, rather than something that has lost its Socom feel.
It's a shame Sony, Zipper, or the new developers don't visit this site. Lib, you should mention it next time you call. Most of us here agree on the same ideas, which are all the best ideas.

If we were given a chance to express our opinions on features, gameplay, etc. the game would turn out a lot better, I think.
I think the maps in CA and S3 are a bit too large, but a lot of the S2 maps are small. I think if they mixed the two together, it would be the perfect combonation. A map that is not too small, not too big, and very interactable.
Well, that's all I have for now, can't wait for the next update.
