Rep Power: 5 | I was reading an interview (E3 interview) and they got questioned about the games release, and this is what they said. Quote:
IGN: When the game was premiered at Sony's Gamer's Day back in May, we were told that the title had only been in production for five months at that time. Why did a series as important to Sony as SOCOM only start its PS3 production at the beginning of this year and not earlier? Does the team feel overly rushed in order to get it finished because of that?
Luisi: SOCOM Confrontation has only been in full development since the beginning of this year, that is correct. We've been working with Slant Six games for almost two years now on SOCOM Tactical Strike and we saw a good fit with Slant Six Games in creating an online only SOCOM game on the PS3 in the near term. We have not yet announced a specific release date for SOCOM Confrontation and we will not release it until we feel it is ready.
The team at Slant Six is leveraging a lot of shared first party technology, some of which is being released to third party developers as part of the PlayStation Edge program. This shared technology really helps reduce the amount of development time required.
| That right there makes me confident that they won't release it until it does look up to most people's standards, and it also means it might not be out in Fall like we expected.

Rep Power: 2 | The hype for SOCOM has riled me up, I cant wait.
Can someone attest to GRAW 2(is this even out yet) or R6V being as fun online as SOCOM 2 was?
Im considering saving the money and getting a 360 instead plus I dont have to wait, I wanna get right into it. |

Rep Power: 13 | Omega, I never claimed to have knowledge on the subject.
However, you do not know what you are talking about, because you compared ALPHA images of the game to those of finished products, in their single player form.
I'm confident we will get a good game with the new developers and the technology of the PS3. Plus, we are promised updates. This may not mean anything, but Zipper never promised us anything, they only said they would release updates. ______________________

Show me a finished product, and I'll judge baised on the finished product. Show me a product that is still in development, and I'll judge based on that, because that's all it is. Sony can promise a hill of beans, and you can continue to be as presumptuous as you like as to what the final product will look like. Quote:

R6V feels very much like Socom 2 in that it is pretty much instant action in close quarters. Some of us even feel that there're a few R6V maps that are very similar to some S2 maps.
GRAW2 feels very much like Socom 3 in that the majority of maps cover wide open terrain with cover scattered throughout. GRAW2 also has a lot of sniping in it, if that's your thing. ______________________ • bury me at sea where no murdered ghost can haunt me |

Rep Power: 0 | Ghost Recon look-alike? I watched the video displaying the remake of the map Crossroads from SOCOM 2. The one thing I noticed was how similar the movement in Confrontation is to that of Ghost Recon. The slow movements, off-center over-the-shoulder camera, generally sluggish. I don't own a PS3, and SOCOM Confrontation is far from a selling point. SOCOM 2 LIVES ON! |

Rep Power: 13 | The character movement and OTS (Over The Shoulder view) have both been changed. The video is very old and I'm sure we'll see something similar to what we're used to in the next video. ______________________
