Sony Day Europe / Confrontation Video
found this on playstation forums

two different vids

sadly the person only had a youtube link. movements a bit stiff still
and apparently you can jump like superman

shaking screen for recoil effect is pissing me off though

trees don't shake when u walk through them or shoot at them as far as i can tell

everyone has the same car or truck

accurate guns with recoil > inaccurate guns without recoil

I'd rather be rewarded for being able to aim.

I havent seen anyone Sprint yet in those clips. That better be available.
Graphics look similar to COD4. Nothing mind boggling.

BTW , I YouTubed your clips the right way.

Thoughts...

Colors are bland and washed out. That's boring.

Characters are too smooth, look like they're made of clay. Need more texture.

I like the OTS view, it feels more natural.

I love the screen recoil. It has more of a realistic feel, and all that screen-shaking will be intense in hardcore firefights.

Character movement is miles from where it needs to be. The upper-body barely moves when they're running. It's too stiff, too rigid. Needs some major imporvement.

The jumping in Socom has always been unreal, but this is the worse yet. That one guy jumps like 12 ft in the air right after the player spawns.

I'm curious what that circular menu that you see briefly in the first video is all about.

All in all, progress is being made. Looks good for being 4 months from release.

I'm still split 50/50 with this game.

On one hand, it's SOCOM and looks pretty damn good, but on the other hand, it just looks like a revamped SOCOM 3. Obviously the graphics are a big jump, but the rest of the gameplay looks pretty similar.

The characters do look like "clay", I thought a similar thing when I first saw the game. In all honesty, they looked better in the earlier screens than they do now.

On the subject of screen movement during recoil/explosions, again I am 50/50. When the player uses a burst or single shot (early in the first video), they screen look absolutely ridiculous when it shakes. However, the whole effect seems to look a lot better with more and more shots fired continually.

The jumping is horrific. I just cracked up around 4:33 (second video) when a guy jumped about 4ft just to get up a 1ft ledge.

I think that was the Rpg, I noticed that to and I replayed the video and noticed he pulls out Rpg.

Overall I like it. That was the first decent video and I like the character with backwards hat. (That is a backwards hat right?)

it is a backwards hat. Apparently you have to make a fashion statement and wear no helmet to show you opponents how cool you are. Its so weird...all this stuff thats being released. Sometimes graphics look decent (first two screens released after long time with xroads). Then they look bad. Then somewhat decent. And now character movements.. when we saw the xplay/1up video released it looked better than this..especially when the commando runs up the concrete hill, turns around and shoots people behind him. His gun was swaying side to side and shoulders were moving in a flowing manner. overall its looking quite good for pre-alpha..not too worried about the progress of the game just yet

also i think that blue screen was the pause menu. i think i can see icons on it. dont think he changed to rpg, the camera pans away too fast to tell

lib you can see sprint function in the xplay video and you can briefly see it in the shorter video above when the cameraman changes screens. a guy sprints past the player's character

I think it's the weapons menu?

PS3 ID : Cylon-

I've had a beef with the jumping since the very first video clip was released (way back in last May I believe). Back then I knew they had a ton of time to improve it, but it seems that they have made little progress with it thus far. I'm all about the game play, but I would like smooth character movements, which still needs to be worked on in my opinion.

I thought I wasn't going to like the OTS view, but it doesn't seem that bad, especially after watching a few in game clips of the game. I'll definitely start out with the OTS view and see how it works out. Worst comes to worst, we can always switch back to the Classic View.

Slant Six has plenty of time to improve on these aspects, lets just hope they use it wisely.
