New gameplay video
GameVideos.com - 1UP Show: SOCOM Confrontation

I haven't really watched the video since it is taking forever to buffer, but it looks pretty solid from what I have actually seen of it.

It's a gameplay video but a lot of it is Q&A with a SOCOM big wig.

EDIT - (Courtesy of Scuba)

Videos of gameplay only:

It looks pretty solid. The only things that bothered me about the gameplay footage was that the main character playing never died even once, I don't know why that is (maybe they were just REALLY good) but it was weird. And also, the characters seemed to be moving quite slowly and in general the game seemed very laid-back and not really competitive. It's probably just me since I've never played a SOCOM game, but that's what I noticed.

Looks pretty damn awesome for a Pre-Alpha build.

you can download it as well, thats fast.

anyone else notice that EVERYTIME that character shot a bullet, the screen shakes. Thats weird, maybe they are trying to make you feel the effects of recoil. Gun models don't look that good yet, they need to work on characters too. But yea its looking great so far when you consider how far release is

I'm loving what I'm seeing. Character movement is a lot better, action looks good, graphics look a lot better in motion, and last but not least, THE PRONE ROLL!!!

Awesome.

EDIT:
After watching it 3 times, I also picked up on the "don't shoot your teammates" crosshairs.

The interview seems to be the 1up one from earlier in the week. Don't tune it out though, because they talk a little more about the 6axis controls, with diving and leaning and such.

England, perhaps you can edit this in your post. Someone from the PS Forums edited the actual gameplay clips into one video, which is a lot easier than watching the entire interview. Plus, the qaulity is much better.

I'm likeing what I'm seeing, but they still have some tweaks to resolve.

At about 1:25 in the first edited video (the firefight across a street from a several story building), you can hear the awesome audio they worked on. The audio of the far off weapons being fired sound superb.

I'm not excited about the prone roll, as that is about the most unrealistic thing to do.

also noticed that the crosshairs don't move up and down like S2 and while the guy snipes standing up, the scope is completely still.

I think they will hear this quite a lot from the beta testers

I think the run feature is a must, after seeing for the first time the enormous size of crossroads. I hope you can only run in bursts thought, not for as long as you want. That would make it easy to run from firefights. Seeing the giant map also made me scared that people could easily camp out the entire round (for 15 mins or so) because there would be so many buildings to access. Imagine playing the 32 player version of crossroads and theres 1 guy from each team remaining and theyre across the map from each other

Yeah that was the main thing that I noticed about the game. In one of the last gameplay videos, the character is shooting at enemies across the map in a building. He looks like he is using a 4x scope, and while standing and zooming in, the crosshairs were completely still. Thus making it easier to snipe and scope in, while standing. In previous socoms, and in real life, the stability of your gun depends on your position and posture. Standing your going to have a tougher time getting the gun steady, crouching makes it a little easier to get steady, however still moves quite a bit, and obviously prone is the best way to keep the gun steady. I'm sure, like navyboy pointed out, that if it's not changed before the beta, I'm sure that will be one of the complaints, especially the anti-snipers out there.

However everything else really seemed to look pretty good, considering the release date. The controller options with the sixaxis seems to be pretty sweet, but will probably take some getting used to.

The game is pre-Alpha, guys. Keep that in mind. I'm sure all of those types of tweaks are sure to come, they are just showing us further progress.

Whens the beta anyway. I hope sony/ s6 releases it within a month. This gives them a lot of time to change stuff, even if its quite major changes. The MGO beta has just been released, and the game comes out in june so all the metal gear team can do is small tweaks.
