I think they look good for still being around the beta stage, but they need TEXTURE. The images look just flat and this is the NEXT GEN I want some depth!

Its not just you. I find that some of the environements look better, some look worse. All teh character models look worse (this is all in comparison to the last two screens) =\ . However I love the architecture in xroads, the lion statue and the new tower look sick The rubble/concrete pieces on urban wasteland dont look so good. I think they will probably work on textures ... its weird though as theyre going to have a beta soon and theyre focusing on weapon/map tuning/balancing (according to socom.com) and petty things like the placement of a few trucks. Im sure these things can be adjusted later on (just before or after beta). Imo, they need to make this game truly look next gen. I think the game will look (graphics wise) awesome if they just spend a bit of time on it in the time they have left.

I also reckon that the developers should be more creative with the destructable environments - I see a lot of cars ready to be blown up and im sure there will be barrels here and there, but id like to see something different in the mix as well. Maybe parts of buildings should crumble when hit with rockets etc without exposing the interior (hence not affecting map balance). I hope chunks of concrete or grass are blasted everywhere if u throw a grenade on the ground.

On a side note, does anyone know why it seems to be that sony hardly spends any resources/money on the socom franchise in comparison to games like killzone and warhawk? According to something i read, killzone and killzone liberation have sold 1 million combined, compared to socom 1's sales of 3.4 million and socom 2's 2.7 odd sales. I can understand sony wanting this to be sony's halo killer or whatever and that they want a killer first person shooter but they should still do more for socom. Im also keen to know about zippers "unnamed project" that i thought was socom 4 but apparently according to seth it could be something else. Does this mean S6 may develop the next socom for the ps3? Im still a bit nervous about S6 undertaking such a huge project, theyve been great so far and communicated with the community thus far, and theyve put in all the hard work but doesnt necessarily meant the game is going to be awesome (granted it looks like its headed into the right direction). Apparently that tactical strike game they developed has only sold 60k copies =\, looks to be a bit of a failure.

It'd be great if they included more breachable walls. That has been something I've been saying since S3 when they allowed you to pick C4 for equipment.

I wouldn't want every single wall to be breachable, but maybe have 4-6 on each map that you could breach. Allow people to get creative in their playing.

I think the character models are improving a good bit. The first shots we originally saw made everyone kinda look like the were made out of play-doh, and not in a Team Fortress 2 way. Fine-tuning graphics will definitely be something they work on improving between now and 9/16.

I wouldn't factor the beta into that in any way. With the beta they're examining map design and weapon balance. Once they get all of that squared away they'll probably optimize the graphics to the point that it won't interfere with network performance.

These screens make me much more optimistic about the game.

Some of the smaller details don't look as good as they did in the last set, but the main stuff like characters look a lot better.

Their helmets used to look like the polystyrene interior of a bicycle helmet, but now they don't.

Regarding the bi-pod on the box, you could do this on COD3. There was a button you press (L2?) and your guy would either mount his MG on a ledge/box or hit the deck in open ground. Shame this didn't see light of day in COD4. I hope this is how it works in SOCOM.

That could probably help cut down on the camping a little bit. Or at least give other options other than walking right into an ambush.

Much like how DG was refined from Socom 1 to Socom 2 with the addition of the breach wall in the hostage room. In Socom 1 there was usually someone corner camping the door. But in Socom 2 you get a little different angle for grenades and taking shots while being able to look out for someone corner camping the main door.

Plus it would just be cool to go around blowing **** up.

I've been subscribing to EGM since 2001, and this is how thier screen shots always look for upcoming games. They have a ****** printing process or something. Gears of War looked no where near as good as it ended up being when EGM first previewed it.

Definately not in my opinion, yours may be different though. From the pervious ones, I was thinking about just forgetting this game, but these screen shots make we want to get it.

LMAO... but that's what bouncing grenades off of the back wall, and towards the area of those corner campers hid in that hostage room was good for.

But the terrorist remedy for that move was bringing the hostages out of the jail cell, and close to the area where the grenades were being thrown.

Ahhh... the good ole days of Socom...

is it just me or do the seal outfits and character design totally blow away the modelling on the "mercs".

Screens look real good, not great but solid. Looking from the screenshots the games looks real fun even though it's hard to tell without playing the game yourself.
