Yea, that's Crossroads.

The graphics of the character models have come a long way and hopefully they continue to improve. I'm excited to see what kind of information we'll be getting in next months issue as the article states. All we can do until then is continue to wait and see.

The most positive thing about all of this is that at last we have another look at the "game", other then the same old pics we've been seeing for the last few months. Hopefully this is the start of Slant Six slowly showing us more and more as the weeks and months are to come.

The shadows don't look right, and CoD 4 does indeed have much prettier character animation (when you are dead on HQ or S&D and spectating) but I would accept PS2 level graphics if they were applied to the PSN on a game with a bit of common sense thrown in.

I like the look of the game overall but some aspect could do with an upgrade or two.

Some of the images make the characters look like they have been photoshop'd into the scene, the car in image 3 is just horrible, and some of the clothing's crease look like paper. The mask on the guy in screen 5 just looks too perfect and unrealistic.

I do like the look of the helmets (sad, I know) and most of the weapons so I can't say I am disappointed with how the game looks. And is it me or does the crouching guy on image 4 actually have arm hair?

In regards to this Vs COD4, I would say I like the look of this game more but I just hope to god it's not all urban maps.

I agree with you on the urban maps issue, i really hope there are some other types of maps other then just urban.

However I do think that COD4 looks better. ANd why wouldn't it? It is a finished product that has been out for months. Socom is still in the works and isn't slated to come out for months, so naturally COD4 would look much better at this point, now it might all change when the game is actually finished....who knows?

When you spectating in a mode before you spawn you look like an 80 year old, you all hunched over, even when standing, sprinting, crouching or proning.

The graphics for Socom games have always been a little bit less detailed throughout the entire franchise and the reason is because it helps the online mode run way more consistenly. The less the amount of data being packet transferred the faster and better the online play. I think this game looks fantastic compared to the other games, but it IS on PS3 now for goodness sake.
As long as the characters move realistically and fluidly, then I have no problem playing the game looking the way it is now. It is all about GAMEPLAY and not being whining graphics whores!!!!!!!!!!!!

Due to the fact that S3/CA was all about the "big" maps, vehicles, and such, I feel that the movements of the characters was sacrificed with less construsive and "solidness". It seemed as though the character models lacked that certain realistic feeling that was so incredible and on the money in Socom 2. In Socom 1, the player models ran like they were on ice skates. But then S2 tweaked that by giving the players better control and "weight" with the ability to start and stop with ease.
S3/CA seemed to take a small step back, making the characters feel lighter overall with less solidness. They also seemed to be a bit "off" compared to 2.

Now, hoping to witness Confrontation will shed some light on how they move overall. The Alpha build, minus the weird jumping, appeared to be going in the right direction, but one will only be able to tell by picking up a (hopefully) Dual Shock Six Axis Controller.

OT- BTW, that reminds me, is there a Dual Shock controller for Sony PS3 yet? If not then this will really play a big part in selling Socom to me. I need to be able to feel those vibes when shooting or getting shot. It brings that greater tension and realism to the game. I NEED it Sony! Dazamn!
