The graphics for Socom games have always been a little bit less detailed throughout the entire franchise and the reason is because it helps the online mode run way more consistenly. The less the amount of data being packet transferred the faster and better the online play. I think this game looks fantastic compared to the other games, but it IS on PS3 now for goodness sake.
As long as the characters move realistically and fluidly, then I have no problem playing the game looking the way it is now. It is all about GAMEPLAY and not being whining graphics whores!!!!!!!!!!!!
Due to the fact that S3/CA was all about the "big" maps, vehicles, and such, I feel that the movements of the characters was sacrificed with less construsive and "solidness". It seemed as though the character models lacked that certain realistic feeling that was so incredible and on the money in Socom 2. In Socom 1, the player models ran like they were on ice skates. But then S2 tweaked that by giving the players better control and "weight" with the ability to start and stop with ease.
S3/CA seemed to take a small step back, making the characters feel lighter overall with less solidness. They also seemed to be a bit "off" compared to 2.
Now, hoping to witness Confrontation will shed some light on how they move overall. The Alpha build, minus the weird jumping, appeared to be going in the right direction, but one will only be able to tell by picking up a (hopefully) Dual Shock Six Axis Controller.
OT- BTW, that reminds me, is there a Dual Shock controller for Sony PS3 yet? If not then this will really play a big part in selling Socom to me. I need to be able to feel those vibes when shooting or getting shot. It brings that greater tension and realism to the game. I NEED it Sony! Dazamn!
