Let me make a prediction...
I really enjoy the Socom series and am enthusiastically looking forward to the release of Confrontation for my PS3. However, I predict that if we are given the option to choose the gameplay type for each map the game will be a disappointment to us all. If we are allowed to choose how to play each map, they will all be played as demo or suppression and without knowing why you will say, "This game is not as good as I had hoped it would be."

Both ways have their advantages and disadvantages. I think they should focus each map on one game mode and then possibly have the options to play the map on other modes. For example, suppression could be played on any map, as could control points. For the other modes, however, each map should be focused on that particular one, like Socom 1 and 2 were.

Yep, the maps should be made for one mode in mind. Sick of suppression being overplayed...its just a common mode found in every shooter.

Yes thats the core gameplay...but its always fun to have an objective in mind rather than simply "eliminate the opposition".. eg demolition, breach, extraction, convoy. Crossroads for example was a demolition map in socom 2. However in S3, a lot of rooms had every type of map in suppression, even if it was more enjoyable in a different mode.

Suppression is very boring to me, at least with the Socom 3/CA rules. Even in Socom 1/2, I enjoyed playing maps that had an objective. They take more skill and teamwork.

That is my very point. I have high hopes that Confrontation is going to be great, but I have a sneaky suspiscion that it will be more of the same when all the rooms are played as suppression. The reason so many people love Socom 2 is because the maps were designed so well around 1 particular gameplay type. Since then, the maps have been designed generically so that they can be played in a variety of gametypes. Unfortunately, the map design suffers because of it and people simply play suppression and grow tired of the game. They tried to give us choices and variety on every map and it just led to the same boring suppression game on every map.

Yes but Zipper are the ones who made Socom 1 and 2, which might be the two best games of all time. I realize that Zipper kind of screwed up there next game, but the real problem zipper has is not updating and making patches to fix the problems.
If Zipper can get a new Public Relations department, and actually work on the game after it is released, I have a feeling the Zipper can possibly make a great game once again.
I guess I'm just hoping, would really suck if Confrontation stinks, and Zipper can't get there acts together with their next release

Oh, so the two games they last made were perfect, just their lack of updates were flawed? Wrong answer.
Zipper is done.
