I had this idea, which is a bit of a spinoff from the screen disection thread, and all I can say is wow. When I went hunting for the pictures, I realized exactly how much more detail there is, and boy, there is tons. Take a look.
Huge difference, and I know we all knew that, but to actually see them enxt to each other, its awesome.
Note that some of the SOCOM 2 ones might be from the single player, but the difference is minimal.
in the new version the building is divided into 2 buildings, one red and one white. the umbrellas are blue and open, the fence around the deck is different, there seems to be some graffiti on the wall in the new version, and i dont remember that palm tree in sc2.

And it helps that it isn't mysteriously foggy for some reason, haha. Just imagine, searching for the last terrorist and you see movements up in the tower from the friggin terrorist's right alley. Oh man, its gonna be sick. And the sniping is goign to be unreal. I shouldnt have looked to see if there was a new SOCOM comign out soon, because the fact that it wont even come out till real late this year HURTS!
Picture #1
Muzzle looks too big. But it's still early, that could be changed. Nice graphics though, obviously.
#2
7:19 left on the timer!! 8 minutes better not be the default round time. That's just too long for a map as small as Crossroads.
#3
Again, the muzzle looks really big. Different timer too *shrugs* Different kind of sky resulting in lower visibility is nice.
#4
Nothing much here that hasn't already been covered, except the cross-hairs look pretty much the same.
#5
Muzzle/Different sky.
#6
Seal with an RPG????
As for overall, the detail and gameplay with obviously be different, but other than that, not much to say since none of us have played Crossroads on Confrontation.

Clearly you cannot tell that those S2 pictures are mostly from some sort of early demo. Seeing as how seals have AT-4s on Xroads, which doesn't happen.
Also...
As far as crossroads goes...
S2>Confrontation

THEY DROPPED THE AWNINGS!!!
Aw, man. Those were sweet places to perch on and shoot people from, and was always good for hide and seek.
Oh well, small loss.
And I don't think any game will ever surpass SOCOM: II.
What I would love to see someday is just a straight up Re-Release of SOCOM: II online, with updated graphics and the customizations for weapons and characters. That would sell like hotcakes.

I'm quick to give SOCOM: II credit because I've played every socom except the PSP versions along with other games online, both for the PS3 and PS2 (PC as well). None of the games have surpassed SOCOM: II's online in my opinion, and the only one that ever even came close was Resistance: Fall of Man during a breach war (nottingham 40p breach, human vs. human, regular ammo and damage, no spawn w/ random weapons, no time limit).
I've played Rainbow Six Vegas, Counter strike: Source, F.E.A.R., SOCOM, SOCOM: II, SOCOM 3, SOCOM CA (co-op and competitive constantly), NFS: Carbon, NFS: Underground, COD 2: BR1, COD 3, Wolfenstein: ET, burnout (sucked), Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, Splintercells PT, CT, and DA, MGS3 subsistence, and many other games when I visited my friends sometimes. I've had experience playing online, in many shooters and a few racing games, and none of them are close to SOCOM: II.
