I never played S1 online. I played the single player though and I couldn't beat it.

Never diss socom 1. It had the best guns, the best gameplay, the best people (minus the cheaters), and the second best maps. Socom II had the best maps.

Socom 1 missions were fun and hard but the online play sucked.

Socom 2, 3, and CA are alot better than 1 online. But offline, Socom1 was the hardest. You could beat 2, 3, and CA in less than 5 hours. I dont think i ever beat socom1, it was way more of a challange.

Z A C H you missed alot, you missed what made all of us SOCOM vets become addicted and why it is addicting and i only hope that someday you can get S1 and play it so you can see what started the best video game series ever made. I would also like to say this:
TO ANYONE WHO DISSES THIS GAME, THEY ARE DISSING THE ROOTS, THE HEART OF THE SOCOM SERIES AND WHOEVER DOES THAT IS NOT REALLY A TRUE SOCOM GAMER AND ARE NOT LIVING UP TO THE SERIES. EVEN THOUGH THIS GAME IS OLD AND "OUTDATED" AS I WOULD SAY THIS GAME STILL STARTED THE BEST VIDEO GAME SERIES ON THE PLANET!

While I don't share the same "gung-ho" type attitude as the above poster, I think the first SOCOM is still fun to play. I haven't tried the online portion, but that will change very soon. I just purchased a used copy, and I'm anxious to try it out one night, just for kicks.

Play what you want. Don't let other people try to tell you otherwise.
