I bought SOCOM 2 first and loved it so much I spent the $3.86 to buy SOCOM 1 used ... SOCOM 1 is just as cool except the daylight in the maps is just great ...

I remember the first day I bought Socom I. It was a great day, I had much time on my hands and I never thought that there would be a better game. Then SOCOM II came out. Holy CRAPPOLA. The maps are better, with the exception of Rats Nest, and Abandoned. I played Socom I the other day and I can't get used to the difference. Plus, you can't find you clan half the time. S is overall a better game.

I agree 2 is better except for the very maps you mentioned ... and why argue, 3 is going to blow 2 (and 1) out of the water ...

s1 is pretty sweet. i lost my s2 so im playing s1 until i get my s2 in the mail.

Socom 1 has alot better gameplay that 2. In socom one the 9mm sub kills in 5 hits compared to the unrealistic 15 in S2. And thats just an example, in S2 the guns were weakened and the game was made more 'easy for everyone to play'. In Socom 1 you needed to have skill and use stealth and there was almost no 'worthless' guns like the f90 and the Hk5 unsilenced became in Socom 2 where you need to empty a clip in to a guys gut to kill him. Also the health bar was the stupidest idea ever. No seal in real life is gonna be like "Oh someone hit me with an M9 to my hip hold on let me see how much damage I took...Oh good that M9 that should have totally shattered my hip bone only took away 6% of my health. Now lets run to the extraction."In socom 1, 3 hits or less from any gun to the gut would kill you. Also their was very little lag compared to the shity servers for socom 2. The only thing wrong with S1 was the cheaters, but back before Socom 2 came out cheaters weren't as big of a hassle as everyone made them out to be. Overall Socom 1 was a more realistic game and for me a more enjoyable experience. If you like games that don't require alot of skill just a bad connection or an overpowered gun than Socom 2 is for you. Just remember, how many people got voted out of a room in S1 for using an rpg or GL(which I personally have no problem with. If they are in the game why do people ***** about it...play a different game if you dont like it you pansies)???

Another reason why people tend to like S2 more is because alot of people who play S2 never or only tried S1. S2 had commericials and alot more Ads than S1 ever had S1 didn't have a commercial only ads in magazines. Also S1 came out when the network adaptor came out and some places had backorders in the network adaptor of up to 6 months. Because of these reasons not alot of people played Socom. By the time people got their network adaptor or broadband internet Socom 2 was only a couple months away. People dont now how fun Socom 1 was in its first year. Cheaters didn't start showing up untill 6 months after it's release and the year between the realease of S1 and S2 was probably the best year of my life, and all because of a ****ing video game. I doubt anything will compare to Socom 1 especially in it's early days.
