A chatroom

There should be a chatroom on this site because then more people would be on and be easier to talk video games

We had one in the past. It's too tricky to watch over the conversations to make sure they're appropriate.

It'll also bring in more annoying people that'll type useless crap.

Plus it requires more moderating & most of us are lazy.

But.....ya never know. Those auto-scrolling chats these days are kinda neat.

Chatrooms can be good, but they are annoying at times.
From what I have learned from using chatrooms on my forums:

Pros:
Quick and easy way to communicate
Great way to attract new members
Enables members to have more in depth and personal conversations as they are real time.

Cons
Perfect target for spammers
Hard to moderate
Often cause a reduced postcount on the forums
Deprive the forum from good conversation. Chat messages disappear after a while and people will say very insightfully and informative things that may be beneficial to the forum in a chatroom and while in the forum it would have made a great and entertaining thread, it was made in a chatroom so 4 people saw it and the rest of the forum did not even know it existed so the person who would have made another great comment in response did not see it.
Also, I will commonly say something that I did not mean to say, and on a second review of the post realize that it was offensive in a way I did not realize while I was originally typing it. With a post/thread you can edit it to mean what you wanted to say. With a chat message, your stuck with what you said.

and finally, people can say things in a chatroom and then get away with it because chances are no moderator will see it.

So, in conclusion, chatrooms are a great tool but cause just as much headache as enjoyment.

Agree 100%, I'm not, and I know there has to be at least a couple more lol, that are sleeping when most of you guys get out of work. So I do enjoy being able to get on (when I get off of work) and look at the stuff and make my own comment. (bearly do but still)

Chat was fun when it was here rather it comes back or not i don't care. I think people forget being in the chat getting to know the people here might wanna make somebody contribute. It's not like anybody is forcing you to stay in it 24/7.

sometimes you have to stay in it just to catch some conversations. As i remember it was usually handful of people usually having some kind of inside conversation, and nobody likes a latecomer a chat convo. i kid on that one.
